#TAKEOVER Over the next couple of days, the wonderful @flunkingmonkey will be taking over our @instagram feed! Neel is a biologist by day, and a travel instagrammer by day/night 😉 so we couldn't resist asking Neel to share some insight into one of his latest adventures! "I’ve been writing about travel for over a year now and have now started to integrate my scientific background into my online work. I currently shoot on the Canon EOS 6D Mark II with my go-to lens, the 16-35mm and occasionally the 24-105 mm. I took this image during my first ever safari trip in my one of my ‘home’ countries. This beautiful lioness had just finished a hunt and came to rest in the shade - they were so unbothered by us, giving us occasional glances, wondering why these weird cars were around. I luckily caught this beauty as she turned her head, just catching the light on her right eye"
Camera: EOS 6D Mark II | Lens: EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM at 400mm | Shutter Speed: 1/400 | Aperture: f/5.6 | ISO 160
What an amazing face this Maasai man has. What stories he could tell - right? I met him while visiting his village in Kenya's Masai Mara as a guest of the Fairmont Mara Safari Club.
He was sitting outside a mud and dung hut, soothed by the shade it provided on a blistering hot day. No one was near me to translate so our communication was mostly gestures and smiles. Smiles are so important when you don't speak the language.
I pointed at my camera and then at him and he regally nodded as if sitting on a throne. He was patient with me as I adjusted my settings and walked around him determined to find the right angle. I took longer than I had intended and became anxious that he would get frustrated with me, but he calmly looked deep into the lens and waited. Sigh.
He was amazing.
