London Zoo (@zsllondonzoo ) has released a video of a tiny premature penguin chick that has been saved against all the odds. The young bird was found while keepers were checking the penguins’ nest boxes this breeding season and they discovered one of the eggs had accidentally been broken by its parents. They were very surprised when they found the little chick was still alive inside. The chick, named Rainbow, was rushed to the on-site vet clinic where she was saved by the quick thinking of the staff. She’s now doing really well and is currently staying in a custom-built incubation room where she rests next to her cuddly toy penguin. When found, she was not ready to hatch so the procedure was very touch and go; they had to carefully remove her from the shell and into the incubator in order to give her a chance at life. “We were overjoyed when she started begging for food by opening her mouth wide and making tiny squawks. It was the first sign she might just make it.” The one-month-old chick is expected to stay in the incubation room until she is at least 10 weeks old where she is being hand-fed three times a day. Rainbow will then move into the zoo’s “penguin nursery” which includes a shallow pool for swimming lessons before being introduced to the other 80 penguins that live in the zoo’s colony. London Zoo (ZLS) is a historic and influential place and is involved in many vital conservation projects worldwide which help protect animals; they care so much about the endangered animals out in the world as well as their animals in captivity as seen through their dedicated care and affection towards wildlife like Rainbow. #usoa#u_s_o_a#universalsocietyofanimals#news#animal#animals#animalkingdom#nature#wild#wildlife#conservation#survive#bird#chick#egg#penguin#rainbow#london#zoo#zls#londonzoo#sos#baby#saveourspecies #🐧

Meet Otis !
Like many of his breed, Otis is full of fun and loves to be the centre of the family! playful and clownish. Sometimes calm and dignified. Always sturdy and stable, good-humored and amiable. Otis always ends up getting into real mischief! Though peaceful with all the world, Otis will sound off with his rather odd-sounding bark when visitors arrive. Then he will welcome them inside with snorts, snuffles, and grunts.
Pugs are gentle and sociable companions, a breed brought to European courts from China in the 16th century and just as popular today. Their short, wrinkly muzzle gives the pug a great deal of character and, for the portraits, lots of interesting detail to work with, and their subtle golden colour coming across well within the painting.
As human beings we have abilities that animals never will.
We can rise up higher than them. We can act divinely. We can be the hand that nourishes them and cultivated their proliferation. We can be the hand that saves them in times where they may perish.
We have the ability to create and destroy the WORLDS that animals inhabit.
In that sense we ARE higher than them. But...does being higher than something...mean that you take advantage of it?
I ask you, are we being responsible with this power? Are we acting within our highest will, in the way we are currently treating animals?
Humanity also has the ability to SINK lower than low. We can become monsters. We can lose our humane sense of dignity and respect and become killers.
Can humanity do better?
Can you do better?
Each decision you make DOES have an impact.
When I watched Dominion alone I must have fell to tears about 5-6 times. Because I Harbor the full awareness that we are all responsible for the state of our world. WE DID THIS. ALL OF US. And I’m done keeping my head in the sand.
I know some may view this as spreading negativity or what not but this is also spreading truth #TruthHurts
