We’ve been in Wyoming for 2 weeks now and have really fallen in love with everything about this place. The only reason we even beelined across the country to get here was to visit a friend at a lodge in Bighorn National Forest - and I’m so glad we did!
The Bighorns were amazing. We camped for free in breathtaking places, saw the milky way and experienced nature without the crowds that come with more popular Wyoming destinations like Yellowstone and Grand Teton.
If you’re traveling or even just curious - I urge you to consider this beautiful, understated place!
Check out my latest blog post about our experience in Bighorn National Forest. Within the post you’ll find all the details on what to see, eat/drink, and where to camp for free!

That is the treasure I seek in these places.
When I am here, there is no future. There is no past.
There is simply now.
I don’t agonize over missed opportunities. I don’t question decisions I have made. I don’t stress over upcoming deadlines. I don’t yearn for something different.
I simply experience the moment. This moment. The one I am feeling with my mind, heart, body, and soul. Here and now.
Somehow, these places make it easy for me to do that.
They delight my eyes with wondrous and expansive beauty, my ears with subtle and timeless sounds, my nose with rich and crisp scents.
They test my the limits of my mind and body. My lungs and muscles burn in a combination of pleasure and pain. I focus on that, both please and disappointed by what my body is capable of doing. Of the places it can take me.
How could there be room for anything but this moment?
It’s the beginning of the end of the season. The final @ladiesallride camp starts NOW in Brevard, NC @reebranch. 👏🏼. We weathered the storm last weekend and all these coaches are beyond stoked for the 2018 finale! Let’s shred it ladies! #livbeyond#ridebikesbehappy#howweliv#ladiesalride

During yoga teacher training this summer I was often overwhelmed with information. Reading, sharing, note taking, sitting for long stretches and listening. I couldn’t process it all. When we would have discussions I would often tell my partner or group that I simply didn’t have anything to say about ______ yet. I needed time to process it. Think time. Wait time.
It reminded me of how stressful school can be for kids. Imagine being asked to sit all day. Do this. Don’t do that. Be quiet. Be told when you can and can’t do basically everything. And if you are efficient and finish your work — hey here is MORE WORK. Ummm what. Of course this isn’t true in many classrooms, but unfortunately it’s still the norm in many schools.
I don’t think most adults could do it. I sure can’t. So I don’t try to make kids do it. I let them have some space. Give back some control. Time to be creative. To learn through experimentation. And sometimes I get flak for it — but I know it’s what’s best. I think we all do.
Humans need breaks. Idle time. Free time. Solitude. Time to process. Make connections. Play and experiment. To twirl around in the truest form of a pencil skirt (👗😍). I know that’s what I’m doing this afternoon.
So, tell me, what do you do to cultivate time and space to be creative? #jessdaytuesday
Happy birthday to this mega babe @bremirynech ! I am so grateful I get to spend time with you on a daily basis. Stoked on all the adventures we’ve had together and to many more coming. You’re inspiring girl.
I love you so much, keep up the good vibes ❤️✌🏼
What a STUNNING day for larch valley today 🍂
I see pictures of women on mountains wearing flowy dresses and skirts and always wondered how they get up there wearing that! And then I found out a lot of the times they hike up the mountain in their regular hiking gear but bring a skirt in their backpack just for Instagram. I personally don’t think I would be able to do that but if you do it, props to you!! Seriously! Hiking with a dress or skirt is HARD. I’ve done smaller hikes with dresses on and those have been challenging. 😥
Been a hot minute since I’ve been mountain biking 🚵♀️! For our first day in Grand Junction, Colorado we took a spin on the fun, flowy Lunch Loops. I didn’t fall, but definitely felt like my skills were lacking when Grand Junction’s entire kids mountain bike team raced past us! 😬 #visitgj#sharegj#grandjunction#westslopebestslope

💇♀️// The main reason I only get my hair cut once a year is not out of laziness (it is tho) time (it is tho) expense (it is tho) or because I have a very low maintenance hairstyle (it is tho) it’s actually just because I really love a good swishy ponytail for the gram! 😝| 📸: @realc85
Scenes from one of our favorite local events, the Green River Takeover. 🙌🏽 The event takes place on our home run, the Green River, and brings out close to 100 women to paddle the river together each year. How rad is that? Memorial funds are also raised for two women who had a huge impact on our lives and paddling communities, Shannon Christy and Maria Noakes. We are so grateful for days like this that bring us together on the river. #livelikemaria#astralfootwear 📷@chadblotner
What a wild start to the week! And, today’s been an especially demanding day, like.. managing social media for clients, keeping on top of client proposals, prospecting + projects, auditing client assets and eeeeeverything else in the biz👩🏽💻
Almost feeling like an uphill struggle with $5 Walmart wedges on 😂 BUT a struggle I absolutely love nonetheless!
Is anyone else having a stacked up week? What’re you juggling? What’s on your plate? 🤷🏽♀️👇🏼
I’ve been lucky enough to go to some pretty incredible places on this big old space rock, but this is my favourite place. A tiny beach surrounded my mountains and meadows of wildflowers in the highlands 🏴 🌙
#TeachableTuesday — NO BACKSEAT DRIVERS! 🤦🏼♀️ Here is an example of “Just lean back!” 😳 There is an element of bracing yourself and distributing your weight back for certain situations, but if you just throw your hips back and extend your arms and legs and hold on, the bike will pull you around. Also whenever your front wheel drops off or rolls down something it can turn unexpectedly if you’re not there to direct it. 🙄 I say it all the time, instead of just throwing your hips back for a roll down, bend your arms and peek over the front of the bike to spot where you want the front wheel to go, then mindfully push it there. The hips go back when the bike is pushed forward, so it’s important that the hips move forward with the rear wheel so you land over the (lowered) saddle instead of in the backseat. Always remember your bike doesn’t have a brain or eyes, so YOU have to make moves so the bike doesn’t try to take over and drag you down the trail. #ridebikesbehappy#howweliv#livbeyond
The last day of my trip I had a lot of time to pass and it was suggested that I go to Antelope Island. This park did not disappoint. I got to see bison and antelope and with a beautiful view. This entire weekend felt like magic.
I’m just gonna come right out and admit that I ate 3/4lb of Brie in 26 hours during this trip. So, I can confirm that high-fat diets DO help you sleep warmer when you’re in a summer bag, it’s sleeting and the wind is blowing water under the rain fly and soaking things. Also, convoluted route finding is much more fun when you’re doing it in the name of science for @liza.kimberly who is collecting data on the amount of snow melt and ice movement on the Easton glacier. #istillbelieveinglaciers#sheadventures#andshesdopetoo
I can’t believe it’s already been two years since we brought the house DOWN at Oktoberfest in Munich! 🙈
I mean, getting mobbed by strangers on the train w/ @keepinitbrill bc we’re #Famous , then ending up on the cover of the Daily Mail/USA Today & Munich Times when @petey_hamilton slammed that beer at opening day! 🙈🤷🏼♀️😂 What an incredible trip!
And such a reminder that you only get ONE LIFE in which to do everything you’ll ever do, and if you don’t act on it, it’ll fly by faster than you know!
So whatever is you want, go for it.
Don’t worry about whether you’re ready, or if the timing is right!
Sometimes the universe gives you what you want right when you don’t think you’re ready bc it’s exactly what you NEED!
Do the things that scare you! Try, fail... LIVE.
The only blueprint in life, is the one you create.
And personally, I want make memories, not regrets.
Take trips, not dream about them.
And see the world, not just read about it.
I found this rock while on vacation and it spoke to me.
Yes, I know that sounds crazy. But out of the mass of stones on the beach, it caught my eye. I just love how the water, sand and other stones have worn part of it away, and it's got such lovely striations below the surface.
It made me think about how much work God has done on me over the last year. Sure, it's been rough, painful even. But underneath it all, he's revealed beautiful things I never knew existed. He's shown me who I am, that I'm enough because of Him, and that His purpose isn't hindered by my imperfections.
The funniest part is I used to strive to be an ideal version of myself; but all the while, that person was beneath the surface. I just needed Him to bring her out. And he's making her even better.
Always wanted to go bombing down berms among tall dark trees 😍
Had what was probably my smoothest race ever this past weekend at the Revelstoke Women’s Enduro - no mechanicals and rode everything pretty well, despite the rain and not having ridden in Revy this summer. I was disappointed when I learned what felt like 4 great stages didn’t place me as high as I’d hoped.. you never can tell with an Enduro race where your standing. Pushing yourself when there’s no one else in sight is tough. .
Amazing photos thanks to @greasypalmreader !!
At the cross roads in Williams Lake! After an epic adventure and meeting the most epic group of paddlers in the Caribou! I’m heading to Edmonton to get some rest recovery and some long laps in in prep for Japan. I will defiantly be back to SUP more norther rivers! #crossroads#caribou#riverpeople#thanks
Lupine fields > sunflower fields
Just kidding! All flower fields are 💯 in my book!
I do love how subtle wildflowers are in the Eastern Sierra, though. The mountains bring the drama, but the flowers make you pause to take a closer look.
From where you’re sitting on the other side of the screen, this lupine field may seem like it carries far less “wow” factor compared to the bright and bold sunflower fields splashed across your feed. But these little guys brave the elements to flourish despite harsh alpine conditions. Small but mighty, they bring all of the “wow” in the world when you stop to think what it took for them to be here.

I heard a song today that talked about how we shouldn’t want to be superhero’s because we’re human and that’s way more powerful. ⚡️
. . . .
Our bodies are capable of healing in incredible ways even when we may be down or in pain, our bodies are working really hard to preserve and protect us. Living with medical students I hear a lot about the things that can go wrong in your body and it seems truly a miracle that anyone lives until they’re 80 or longer. 🤯
. . . .
So today I’m grateful I was able to go to a yoga class and walk a mile home and to hike in Colorado. 🌲 This is what #mywalkintheworld looks like this week.
Has anyone ever had a good break-up??
One that is mutually accepted and there is no animosity, misunderstandings, or hurt feelings?
I didn’t think I would find myself in one of these break ups, but I did. Couldn’t listen to sad love songs because i couldn’t relate. I couldn’t listen to angry songs, Bc I felt no Desire to key his car 😂. But not going to lie, it’s been a little odd, having to adjust to a life without him but not go through the whole weird array of feelings that come with a hurtful break up. It may have been the most adult thing I have ever done in my life, and definitely something I am working through because I cannot understand it fully.
I read once that break ups should end with both people uplifting each other and coming out as better versions of themselves. I laughed Bc every other relationship left me feeling worse about myself. Except this one 💕 more thoughts to come...
