Qingming Festival(“清明节”), also known as Tomb Sweeping Day, is a traditional Chinese festival on the first day of the fifth solar term of the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar, either 4 or 5 April in a given year. It originated from the Hanshi Festival (“寒食节”, Cold Food Festival) in 655BC. On this day, Chinese people eat the traditional seasonal food Qingtuan (“青团”)🥢🥢🥢, visit the columbaria, graves or burial grounds to pray to their ancestors🙏🙏🙏, and go on family outings, start the spring plowing, sing, and dance. 🍃🍃🍃
and here my #ancester who bought this #painting . He was a very wealthy merchant who brought the first oranges from italy to the north. He tried tomatos, but this was devils work fot the people what turns from green to red. FYI: At this time there was offeres a „La Zingarella” to Fox Talbot and i guess it was my painting. You find it here http://foxtalbot.dmu.ac.uk
I took this picture in the #toweroflondon from a room where my #ancester#WilliamPenn was held. Today I found out on @ancestry that everything my #family said was true. My 8x great grandfather was indeed William Penn...
So, for Christmas, I decided to buy myself an ancestry testing kit from @23andme. Today I got the email back containing my results and I must say, getting these results just makes me more interested in finding out more about where I came from and who my ancestors are. If you’ve ever considered doing DNA or ancestry testing, I would definitely recommend it, it’s super interesting IMO
