Sooo..... SURPRISE! For all those I haven't told, I am living in F*CKIN France!! 🇫🇷After being on the waitlist for months, and thinking I didn't get it, I was actually accepted into the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) and have been placed at 2 schools in Dijon as an English assistant. 😱 I have wanted to live in France for SO long, and will be here until about May, making this a literal dream come true! ❤️ A big part of the reason I went back to ASU to finish my degree was to be able to do a program like this, so if you have a dream and work really really hard, magical things can happen 💕 I am so freakin grateful!! 🥐🥖
Bonjour from Avallon, France! We went to our local Farmers Market on this lovely fall Saturday to check out all the Autumn Produce and to see if they had pumpkins. (They didn’t really and I’m learning there’s not really pumpkin patches you can visit here which is a bit disappointing for my American self) Anywho, they did have the most wonderful abundant tables full of leeks, big leafy spinach, artichokes, black radish, cauliflower, shallots, garlic, pears, figs, apples and on and on. I adore the market here and my new little town. The buildings like this one with flowers and little flags flying are so quaint and well, French. Anyway, we heard there’s a chestnut festival next weekend near here that sells pumpkins so we’ll try again. We will get those 🎃🎃🎃 Bon Week-end! 🍂🍁🥖🥕🍐🍊🇫🇷 #farmersmarket#familytime#americaninfrance#burgundy#autumninfrance
My Favorite Vintage Coat.🎀That’s all.🎀 (The details on 1950’s coats make my heart go pitter-pat. A dream would be to have a whole closet full of them one day. -> And now I’ve got the weather to wear them.) 🍂🍁🌿💚💞 #vintagecoat#1950s#france#vintagelover#fall
Hello, you!!! How are you today??? What’s your Romanian deadlift like? I just want to ask questions. I did two unassisted pull-ups today and I was terrified during both! I have never had strong hamstrings and after months of Romanian deadlifts - my god, they’re beginning to show themselves. Take care of yourself today. Go lift something, perhaps a dog! #vegetathighs
HI YES HELLO THE MEDIA: I did my first unassisted pull-up today!!! ❤️ I was actually just goofing off in between my Pilates and lifting and then KABOOM! I will now be making a big ass dinner to celebrateeee. #vegetathighs
“What do you fear, lady?" [Aragorn] asked. "A cage," [Éowyn] said. "To stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire.” I just rewatched the LOTR trilogy. 🐶 pugs and hobbits forever. 📸: @alex_pookee
🎃I think about this tweet all the time. In college, I studied psychology because I was fascinated with how the mind works. The mind is very good at what it does: it has historically been carved from evolutionary needs to propel the body forward through life to survive. Our brain became very adept at scanning for danger, good at telling you to look both ways before you cross a busy street. But, brains are not all-knowing or even wise. They cannot always distinguish between the way a work project makes you sweat and a repetitive thought that has haunted you since childhood. Those two things may feel the same to you, the stress may keep you up at night in the same way. 🙃“Things could go badly” seems real. It feels solid and sad, yes, but it is practical. Not to mention the fact that not all brains operate the same way and truly, brains are molded by experiences and trauma that we experience throughout our lives. The brain is not so much a tool that remains stable, but a living breathing thing. There’s so much we still don’t know. We know that neurons that fire together wire together and that we can create more positive patterns of thinking, but we also know that the brain by default is a problem solver. It looks for the Tetris block that doesn’t fit because the game depends on it. ☺️There are methods backed by scientific research that you can improve happiness. It doesn’t mean buying anything, but usually deep work and new habits that your brain will fight very hard to do because they don’t bring the same instant pleasure that hitting “next episode” does. Researchers have shown that doing things like keeping a gratitude journal can make you more primed to experience happier feelings. And I like those things, but what about those of us that have traumatic breadcrumbs spread throughout our neurons that reach back to our childhood? What happens when your trauma is so deep and twisted that tugging the happiness out feels like you’re becoming something inauthentic? I don’t have those answers. We are breathing life into them as we go through this world. Science has much more to tell us. But, we can begin to think new thoughts and try. 👀Just try.
It’s Friday and in France everybody from the pharmacist to your kids teacher will say ‘Bon Week-End!’ 🇫🇷🍁Oui, Le Week-end est arrivé. It was 40 degrees this morning at school drop off and my mom reminded me I took her favorite Mouton Coat so I went through my wardrobe box full of coats and put it on. The teacher touched it this morning at drop-off and said ‘C’est Doux’ (it’s soft) 😁 She might have thought it real. If you’ve never had a Mouton Coat you should hop on E-bay and buy a vintage one because they are as soft and warm as real fur but made of sheep’s wool. I remember being a little girl and absolutely loving wearing my ‘moo-tawn’ Coat my mom got me. You just instantly feel glamorous. —- Anyway how pretty is this house. Yes, that’s an old church converted into a home. 😍 The architecture here never seizes to amaze me. Bon Week-End! ⛪️ #LaBelleFrance#eglise#bourgogne#moutoncoat#sustainablefashion#vintage
An extraordinary testament to the glory of the Roman Empire, the Ancient Roman Theatre of Orange, listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO, is the most well preserved Roman theatre in all of Europe. Built under the reign of Emperor Augustus in the 1st century AD, it was the first of its kind in France.
