I totally forgot I took these pics and because we had no service at the time, I wasn’t able to post them right away... These are from a trip a few weekends back. Some friends and I went up to Sayward for @annahoult123’s Bday weekend. We rented a cottage, canoed the river, had a great dinner & breaky, a rockin’ bonfire, and even played Sunday afternoon bingo with the locals! I may have made $80 bucks... cheers to the good times 😊
Black Bears don’t deserve their reputation as fierce, or dangerous. I had a very cool encounter with this guy today from about 30 feet away. He was so comfortable with my presence that he even had a short nap! As long as you stay calm and non threatening, Black Bears will sometimes tolerate your presence👍
Travel isn't always pretty. It isn't always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that's okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind - Anthony Bourdain
The benefit of not being able to fall back asleep is that I was actually able to catch the sunrise this morning. It was a wonderful start to the day. I think I’m going to have to make this a regular thing. Who wants to wake up early with me tomorrow? 😛
One of my favourite treats is a cone from @coldfrontgelato in Nanaimo. Not only is it so delicious, but Sunny Parsons (the owner) sources her ingredients from as many Vancouver Island or B.C. local producers as possible. When bringing in ingredients from further afield (Madagascan vanilla, for example), she makes sure that it is ethically sourced/fair trade. When making her Gelato, she does so in-line with her education which she received while at the Gelato University in Bologna, Italy. All in all, this makes for an incredibly high quality dessert — a dessert with unique & tasty flavours, naturally flavoured & ethical. .
PS: I chose the Pumpkin Spice & Pistachio Flavours. Which flavour is your fave?

Fun for the whole family, (unless someone in your family hates the outdoors/biking etc, then maybe it’s just “fun for most of your family”)

Gaia. Too often do we divide ourselves from nature, humans have tried to control the things around us for generations, this kind of divide can often create issues in how we relate to nature, as if we are not a part of it. This sleeping beauty lies in Beacon Hill park in Victoria, BC
