A year ago today, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
It is my one year cancerversary.
It’s been the most challenging year of my life, but I am thankful for how much I’ve grown and the things I gained during that time, and I don’t just mean my new tits.
Feel grateful to still be here. ✨
Thankyou to my incredible friends & family for their unconditional support and love. Thankyou to my favourite drag queens for showing me that even though I was losing my hair, I didn’t have to lose myself and that it was okay to laugh at my tragic existence. You helped me create my delightfully depressing persona and unique strand of malignant humour- @adoredelano @thebiancadelrio @katya_zamo @trixiemattel @sashavelour.
Thankyou to dan howell & phil lester for providing me with content that brought a smile to my face on days when I wanted to give up & reminding me of why I was letting them pump poison into my body- @danielhowell & @amazingphil.
Thankyou to every medical professional I came across at @uclh Macmillan Centre for taking care of me like I was your child & wanting me to live.
Thankyou to the charities and organisations that support them for being by my side throughout my diagnosis, treatment & adjustment to life after cancer- @trekstock @wigsforheroes @teenage_cancer @breastcancerhaven @girlvscancer @wearebravecollective.
Thankyou to my cancer sisters & brothers for always getting it, never ceasing to have my back and welcoming me into this community/ club that I never wanted to join but can’t imagine my life without now cos you make me feel like I belong.
Thankyou to my wonderful wee girl Prudie for all the cuddles and care you gave me especially when I was at my most ill and couldn’t get out of bed (and for watching Dan And Phil Games with me throughout chemo & surgical recovery)- @prudiesybil.
Most importantly, thankyou to my ma. You gave me the tools and helped build the foundation of strength that got me through this year. Thankyou for being my ma, I miss you everyday and I love you always.
