The excitement of finishing the hardest 10 miles that I have ever done in my life!!!! I'm sure he never wants to hear the word llama again since he had to hear about them for 5 miles 🤣🤣🤣 ...... But we have survived over 30 years of friendship so I'm sure he will hear it again from me in this lifetime!!! 🌲🎒🌲🎒🌲 #10milehike#alumcavetrail#mtleconte#igottoseethellamas
Some of the most breathtaking views I have ever witnessed in my life. The videos and pictures truly don't do it justice. The 5 mile hike to Alum Cave and back was worth it. Elevation = 2,700 Feet. Had we gone up a few more miles we would have come across a village (and Llamas) where the local villagers have been known to feed hikers before they begin their hike down. The Smoky Mountains have so much to offer...just wow!
Starting early before the sunrise, to the top of Mt. LeConte. Was not able to see much from the summit because of the fog but it was worth hiking up to the summit, witnessing beautiful land marks. On the way we were passed by 71 year old gentleman, who's birthday was today and celebrating it by hiking to the summit for his 35th time. We were passed multiple times by the same trail runner during his three laps to the top and back. Also on the hike, we met couple with toddler hiking down when we were going up almost to the top. #life#healthylife#smokymountains#mtleconte#alumcavetrail#alumcavebluffs#hiking#naturebeauty#funtime#smokymountainbrewery
Sometimes I wonder if I enjoy photography only because of the joy photos give me. Photography allows for me to capture moments that I may never experience again. It lets me relive days like this. I have known some of these guys for the majority of my life, yet I have never been hiking with them. Getting to be out on the trails with some of my closest friends is something I will hold close to my heart forever.
***Bottomless*** hot chocolate (and the divine chocolate chip cookies) were quite possibly the highlight of my day after getting drenched by rain coming up the #alumcavetrail to #lecontelodge . What a great way to warm up! @greatsmokynps
Our hike up to Alum Cave then continued up to Mt. Leconte. I got to tell you it was absolutely stunning. Down right magnificent. Breath taking (literally). Quite frankly a wake up call for me. I had neglected my body for a few years and last part of the trek was a real struggle. So glad to have done it with @marathonmary she was my rock. It was wet and rainy as we summited so not many shots. But so blessed to have done this. .
Heading into the weekend like... what adventures are y'all getting into this weekend? Over here this is our last weekend before school starts Monday. I've got mixed emotions because the final kiddo is starting school. I'm relieved and exhausted- that first phase is tough! I'm also sad, because that first phase is gone. Crazy how life is so ironic all the time. I'd like to take it easy this weekend but I can't help but get outside especially since it's rained ALL week and we're gonna get some sun and I can already see my favorite season coming to a close- the 🍂 are already starting to change over here in East TN. Might revisit a waterfall off the AT down the road tomorrow. Stay tuned.
