This record caught me by surprise. Even though I've liked most of this bands output, even Adore and Oceania, for whatever reason I didn't have high hopes for this album but it's sooooo goood. The first day I heard it I listened 3 times in a row just to make sure.
“I feel like now, especially now, when we write new music, we have this drive and hunger to push out music that we feel there really isn’t enough of, you know? We love the classic sounds so much that we want to integrate that with our sound and add some of those elements,” says Danni of Danni & Kris on their inspirations. I had such a GREAT time last night at @vaudevillemews in Des Moines! It was nice to get back on stage after taking a 6 month break to record, and my performance exceeded my own expectations. I am very flattered by the outpouring of support, praise, and acknowledgement I received from fellow musicians and audience. I can't remember ever feeling like my music was appreciated in a live setting more so than last night.
Thanks again to Vaudeville Mews and the fantastic bands I shared the stage with: Lake of Fat Kids, Kickstart The Sun, and On Hiatus! I'd appreciate if everyone went and checked them out. 📸 by Vincent Vasquez and Bradley Howell
Final call for tonight! We're on our way to Newcastle for tonight's show at @theclunynewcastle! Don't miss out. Absolutely power line up // @avalancheparty, @ghost_signals, @sleeptape. Purchase your tickets from the link in our bio.
My band @oversetuk just released a new single. Link is in my bio for the music video. Writing this song got me through a painful summer and I couldn't be more proud of it, if anyone takes a minute to give it the time of day my dm's are open to anyone who has anything to say. Cheers x

BEST OF 2018 #12 : Parquet Courts - Wide Awaaaaake! New Yorkers jagged of riff and sharp of mind. Parquet Courts’ recent bustling, sold-out show at SWG3 is testament to the fact that they’re a band on the rise. The most cheering and exciting thing about Wide Awake! is that it finds them getting better as well as bigger. Much has been made of Danger Mouse’s involvement as producer and he really is a perfect fit - playing to the band’s restless flexibility (the title track’s cowbell-powered call-to-arms; Before The Water Gets Too High’s nagging, Young Marble Giants bass-line; the cowpunk balladry of Tenderness; Back To Earth’s moody melodica line is eerie similar to DM’s work on Gorillaz’s Demon Days, but it works) while preserving their scrappy speediness (Total Football is one of the year’s most exciting openers; the transitions in Almost Had To Start A Fight/In and Out of Patience are thrillingly executed). Lyrically, Parquet Courts remain keen as a pin too, calling out inaction wherever they find it. Targets include climate change (“time can’t be bought by the profits that you make...Is it someone else’s job until the rich are refugees?”), racial inequality (“It is dishonest, nay a sin, to stand for an anthem that attempts to drown out the roar of oppression”) and human potential (“the bottom of this well is rich with bitter water, it lays still, drowsy, dreaming, and dying to get out”). #parquetcourts#wideawake#2018#vinyl#records#roughtrade#nowplaying#altrock#punk#cowbell
