Some brands have an original finish you just don't want to loose.
Kookai stretch garments don't have visible stitching and our clever tailors can make sure it looks like original from the outside. This dress was shortened with a clever seam created on the inside and then reinforced with elastic to make such it stretches with your body.
And here is the dress without the overskirt! The main fabric of the dress is a matte stretch charmeuse that I double layered for more opacity. A bonus feature of this wedding dress (that I made sure my own wedding dress had too) is that all of the fabrics used are WASHABLE! You never know what can happen during your wedding day...
*cough cough* your sisters could spill root beer on you *cough cough* 😂
...and it's such a relief to know that after all of the partying is over, you can handwash your dress in your bathtub haha
Here is the beautiful Paige in her wedding dress with the overskirt! The sleeves and overskirt are made of a soft mesh net that is finished with serged edges. The ribbon at the waist and bodice applique were both purchases by the bride that she wanted me to incorporate; the gold clasp is by Dritz.
I feel like I haven’t been on here as much as I normally am...Things have been on the crazy side the last couple of weeks preparing for Chicago, working on alterations, cranking out some custom work, and a bunch of other projects in the works. I’ll be taking the next few days off of social media but will back on my normal schedule soon😅
Today's the day! I can finally post pictures of the wedding dress I've been working on for the past couple months! Let's start with the sketches first... ✍
My bride really loved the exaggerated sleeves on #simplicity1551 , so I designed a simple silhouette that would showcase those sleeves (and compliment her hourglass figure!) She also wanted a short train, but didn't want to have to bustle anything...so I made a removable overskirt that can be worn for the ceremony and then removed for the reception!
