Today we traveled by train from Munich to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland, with stops in Bern and Interlaken. We had to switch trains twice in Germany, and again in Interlaken. Then we had a ten minute bus ride, and two cable car rides. The result is that tonight we're sleeping in a little Alpine village that clings to the side of a mountain, two thousand feet above the valley floor. There are towering peaks surrounding us. I grew up in Colorado, so I'm used to breathtaking alpine views, but this blew my mind.
I recommend the following:
1. Put Switzerland on your bucket list. High on your list. If it's already there, move it up higher.
2. Make it happen.
3. Research where you want to go. Not all of the country is breathtaking.
4. Bring hiking shoes. We were planning a trip to France, so I didn't bring mine. I'm very bummed. (But my wife is secretly happy)
