This shot was taken just before sunrise a couple weekends ago at Herbert Lake in Banff and it was the final location shooting with Matt. It was a crisp cold morning and after the long day shooting.. i didn’t really wanna go. Matt pushed to get one final location and so glad we did!
Students from the Alpine Club of Canada Basic Mountaineering Course return this weekend for a summit attempt of Mt. Matier. These 21 keen students endured sun, rain, sleet, and snow, all within the space of 24 hours. On Saturday afternoon, we got beta indicating waist deep postholing even as high as the Matier glacier. Despite making a 2am start, the snow was still too soft once we passed Motel66. Such a shame as these eager students have done so well over the three weekends. They even departed exactly on time at 2am! So rare to see that amongst large groups, much less novice mountaineers! Will be looking to see if I can arrange some mountaineering trips through the ACC this summer so that at least some of the students will get to put their new skills to good use. #alpineclubofcanada#accvancouver#alpineclubcan#mountaineering#duffeylake#cerisecreek#mtmatier#vancouver#vancouvertrails#hikevancouver#coastmountains

The Stars and You.
This night was truly something magical... there was no wind or snow falling in Cypress Hills PP on this Tuesday night. I love the stars and space so much and I can’t wait to take more photos of them soon.
