I accepted some unexpected work in Terrace and this has turned out to be one of the most beautiful trips I have ever been on. Stepping foot into the Alpine for the first time was a breath taking experience. While my I was trying to catch my breath, I was fortunate to watch a heard of goats skyline a mountain and witness two grizzly bears slide around on their bellies down a snowy slope.
Two days of sailing, 40 km down logging roads, one wild river crossing, two days of gully approaching, some travel across a glacier, and a fun day of rock climbing led to this stunning peak. My partner @bcbedouin and I established "Rogue Tower" 5.10, C1, 300m . The route begins in a crack system and ends with exhilarating exposure on Coast Mountain alpine spires. This route is dedicated to our friend, mentor, and loved one Rob Richards. Rob's vision pushed us North to this beautiful wonderland of alpine granite country. Trying to climb all of the places that Rob pointed his finger towards on GoogleEarth would be impossible, but I feel grateful and inspired to keep adventuring. It saddens me to come back from this trip and not be able to pull up the photos with Rob and tell him our stories over morning coffee. In my mind I hear him saying, "good job, youngling." <3
Saying farewell to my partner in crime from the first two weeks of the #bigalpineadventure with fantastic bottle of Italian red and a beautiful view over Lago D'iseo. Glad he got back on the wing after his accident last year and absolutely smashed it this time round. Can't wait to see what this guys gonna smash out on his new wing...😉 As always buddy, it's been a pleasure! @experienceoutdoors
A big #tbt today. Gotta dedicate this to my good friend @flaviu.r.g._photography. After all, he took the picture. Over the last several years I’ve enjoyed hitting the hills with him, looking for the perfect photo. We’ve scaled huge mountains at ungodly times, in search of sunrises and vistas. I’ve watched him at all hours of the night, taking amazing Milky Way shots. In my opinion, we peaked last Saturday around noon on a rocky slope at 11k. Unbelievable photo. The coloration of the wolverines coat is much more vibrant then I recall, with that beautiful white necklace and face marks. I love the way his claws are dug in, with just a bit of pearly teeth exposed. I’ll probably never see another. But one sighting was worth a lifetime of hiking. Lovely work Flavi! Thanks for the company @zuck_josh and @ibstilwill! Can’t wait till the next trip! #idaho#idahome#wolverine#pioneermountains#backpacking#backcountryhuntersandanglers#publiclandowner#alpine#highcountry
What a privilege it was to call this home for a week with @erinleemurphy and @speggiebush. Lots of climbing, hiking, and mosquitoes to test your sanity and remind you that being in the wilderness is actually really simple, just go out and be there. Before there was expensive gear there was the exploratory spirit of man. That said totem cams and mosquito nets are pretty rad. The sweetness of life is made from experiences like these
1.view from pingora descent
2.summit of wolfhead looking into the cirque
3. My favorite peak, Warbonnet - a peak that could either be named for a dirty instrument of war, like a spiked bat covered in anthrax, or a bonnet that you'd wear to war for some reason.
