The famous 7B bar, named for its street and avenue. This place is known best as the bar where Frank Pantangeli, of Godfather II, was nearly garroted by Rosatto Brothers assassins and the resulting gunfight on the street. It has also been in several other movies. #Urbanhike#EastVillage#AlphabetCity
St. Brigid's Church, Avenue B. Built in 1849, during The Hunger, St Brigid's welcomed, first, Irish, then German, Polish, Puerto Rican and now Central American worippers. St. Brigid's first pastor was the chaplain for the famed "Fighting 69th" Irish regiment during the Civil War. St. Brigid's was nearly lost when its rear wall separated and it was forced to close in the early 2000's . But an anonymous donor stepped up with a $20 million gift to save and endow the parish church and school. #Urbanhike#EastVillage#AlphabetCity
“How lovely is the silence of growing things.”
The 6th street and Ave B community garden is a beautiful sanctuary deep within a fast paced city that never sleeps, kind of how our lives feel sometimes. .
Have a peaceful, restful Sunday!
