Last night, I made a pair of almond cranberry apple galettes (one for a gift and one just for us (mostly because I couldn’t stand the idea of giving something like this as a gift without running quality control)). For anyone who’s interested, this was 90 percent based off the “Rustic Pear and Apple Galette” recipe by @thekitchn (Google it), which I’ve made a million times and is amazing as is. But this time I started with a combined base layer (see pictures) of 5 tbsp ground almonds, 3 tbsp flour, and 1/4 cup granulated sugar. Then I layered the sliced, seasoned fruit (all apples this time - three Honeycrisp and two Granny Smith) and topped with 1.5 cups unsweetened fresh cranberries (1 cup chopped and 1/2 cup whole). To finish (the step I don’t have pictured because I was in a rush and forgot to get a shot), I topped with tiny cubes of unsalted butter and generously sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. Consumption of almonds have been linked to #headache prevention. It has been observed that people suffering from #migraines have lower levels of magnesium than those who do not have migraines.
Sufficient amount of magnesium in almonds can help those eating them to treat migraine or prevent them from occurring in the future. According to the University Of Maryland Medical Center, a study was conducted to check the effectiveness of magnesium in preventing migraines. The results concluded that attacks of migraines had reduced by 41.6% in people who took recommended daily intake of the nutrient. This mineral helps muscles to relax and reduces nerve excitability, providing relief from headaches caused by stress or tension
In addition, vitamins present in almonds also play a crucial role. Almonds contain high content of vitamin B2, which according to a study helps reduce migraine frequency by half after a person takes 400 milligrams of it.
