I used to make sad salads before I figured out what I enjoyed. For me, it’s all about the variety and the crunch factor that makes an awesome salad. I like to switch up my toppings to keep things interesting but I have the basics stocked in my fridge 24/7. I was really hungry for lunch today so I made a huge salad with turkey and pineapple on the side. Today’s salad had a mix of kale, romaine, and spinach as the base. Toppings were a hard boiled egg for protein, chia and sunflower seeds, shredded cheese, red cabbage, cucumber, and tomatoes. Delish!
I love Instagram for all the inspiration I get scrolling through. There are days when I don't feel like cooking and I'm thinking about ordering delivery and I start scrolling and see something amazing that I can throw together myself. And it always seems like Sundays are for pancakes, which of course has me wanting pancakes; and since I have everything I needed to make pancakes I finally decided to whip some up today. I used @rachlmansfield's almond flour pancakes as my base and then topped them with a whole bunch of delicious! This stack has @fourthandheart vanilla been ghee & Chocti Coffee Guarana, @co_yo_usa coconut yogurt (which is the best coconut yogurt I've ever had, it's thick and creamy like yogurt should be), figs and @dvashorganics date nectar (like maple syrup, but less sugar and not as sweet). As fall approaches, leafy greens are trying to make a comeback... if only this Virginia heat would back off! For me, this means more salads back in the mix. This one is topped with a variety of peppers from my CSA and my porch, kraut, sprouts, BBQ chicken, and this green goddess salad dressing from @traderjoes. Between its flavor (sour, savory, with lots of herbs) and simple ingredients, this dressing is a total win in my book!
Lovely chatty brunch catch up with some of my oldest friends today - had fun making these chia puddings w/ vanilla yoghurt, raspberry coulis, fresh & freeze dried fruit, granola & pistachios #dontknowwhentostop 🤷🏼♀️and green smoothies. Followed with avo smash w/ tomato & radish on sourdough and finished with fresh-out-of-the-oven lemon Madeleine's and lemon curd 😋

Meet our totally-over-the-top fall sundae, GOLDIE!!!! She’s full of all the fall feels!!! This is a deluxe sundae, meaning it’s larger than our other sundaes and it has its very own clear cup to show off all the awesome layers involved.

Available tonight at the high school (5:30-9), tomorrow in downtown Galena (6-8:30) and Saturday at Big Walnut middle school (noon-4). So....I’ve come to terms with the fact that it’s getting colder. For a lot of you that means pumpkin spice lattes ☕️ sweaters and Halloween 🎃 👻 Allow me to share one of my traditions, Hot Pot!! Surrounded by a dozen of my closest friends, we shuffled in to @hotspotchantilly this chilly September evening. After we cranked up our hot pot to 11 and heated up our broth, we marked up a laminated sheet with red ink on a handful of Asian delicacies - meat, seafood and veggies. Don’t skip the sauce line because that is the PRIME source of flavor! The choices are overwhelming. Now on to the sides for the Hot Pot: Tender beef, lamb, chicken, dumplings, fish balls, Shrimp balls, Bok choy, Watercress, Sprouts, Scallops, Crawfish, Mussels. Throw it ALL in there. Most of it cooks in minutes!! SO DELICIOUS! It really warmed us up and as the weather drops down, I’ll be dropping in much more frequently.
