This is made by Wendy Pierson, the lampwork glass artist from Vancouver Island, B.C. Every piece is unique, only one in the world. These beautiful gold foil are embedded inside of the teal-blue ball and made the jewellry looks like the earth; the lands are surrounded by the ocean. We had been wondering whether we could find Costa Rica’s mysterious stone spheres prior to wondering to the Resturant across the street. We were so focused on the ocean and sunset we didn’t notice what was right in front of us.
In 1930s, more than three hundred stone spheres were discovered in Costa Rica. Believed to have been carved as early as 200 B.C. and ranging in size from a few centimeters to over two meters in diameter, and weighing up to 16 tons, little else is known about the stones. They were scattered soon after discovery and prior to further archeological research. They are thought to have been created by the aboriginal peoples who inhabited the region prior to the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire.
Mitch remains hopeful with the alien theories.
