Figure its about time I went back to some classic toy coverage - and man, Kenner’s line of ALIENS toys from the early 90’s is probably the creepiest toyline ever marketed to kids! And this PREDATOR(ed) any of the ghoulish stuff McFarlane Toys would put out later. The basic idea of the series was that the classic Alien creatures from the movie would cross-hybrid with just about any mammal or insect and the result would be a demon-spawn thing that gave birth out of it. The Swarm Alien looked like a locust from hell and came attached to a giant walking host body. Detailing is horrifyingly good. Its got lights and electronics that sound like an eagle remixed with the shrieks of a beast from the abyss. Did moms actually get these for their kids back in the day?

I really hadn’t planned on buying both releases of the Ultimate Xenomorphs, but hey, the Hive can always stand to have some more additions. They’re basically re-issues with a few minor tweaks, but they look good, are structurally sound and I’m happy to have them for the photography.
