I started sewing last night around 9:30 figured I’d sew for a little while and start sewing this bag, then go to bed. Welll... a little while turned into 7 hours and a finished bag. ~Rather easy sew just odd instructions. Because of that it was a lot more confusing than it needed to be. ~Oh and at the end of it all I had two extra pieces. Don’t know how that happened. Lol. ~I got the awesome #airplanefabric and zipper from @knitandbolt #thankyou#caravantote#noodleheadpatterns @noodlehead531 #imakebags#airplane#cantwaittouseit#lovehowitturnedout
Guys, this may seem like a simple little pocket to you.... but to me, it means... I LEARNED HOW TO USE MY NEW SEWING MACHINE!!! Clayton got me a new, fancy machine for Christmas. I was crazy intimidated. (Who am I kidding, I’m still terrified of this thing) I couldn’t figure out how to thread the thing. So, I did what most Gen X’ers would do AND YouTubed it! Lol after 6 months of hiding from it, I tackled what seemed like the impossible. (It still took me 2 hours. But, I think I got the hang of threading now). I will keep my old machine, that I love and know very well. But, I will continue to try new things and hopefully, I will have a pair of 4T shorts out of this airplane fabric before the summer is over!
It's #instaknitnight and I'm not knitting! 😮 Earlier this week I took a comfort walk around the craft store (as one does), and happened upon this amazing airplane blueprint fabric, which my grandpa would love, and seemed like the perfect thing to honor his long and distinguished career as an engineer for the Department of Defense. So I decided to whip up a skirt before I go home this weekend to be with my family, and am currently tacking down the waistband by hand. I don't know if I'll actually wear it to the services, but it's keeping me occupied for now, and I know my aunts will like it. .
I used @cashmerette's elastic-back skirt tutorial (except used the full width of the quilting cotton for the width of the skirt panels), and the fabric is Vintage Blueprints design #15675 , by Savannah Lindsay for Robert Kaufman. #robertkaufman#handmadewardrobe#noveltyskirt#airplanefabric
Did you know I design more than unicorns and butterflies? My IG feed is all about my favorite things but my fabric design library has so much more - like these vintage P3 planes designed specially for US Navy families.
