ALSO today; 40 years ago today I started my aviation career so here's a selection of photos through my career from the US Air Force, Evergreen Air Center, Bombardier, SIA Engineering, and United Airlines.
First shot is while I was stationed at Cannon AFB in New Mexico while I put the crew ladder next to the F-111D (68-0107) that I was assigned to as the DCC.
Second one was taken at Incirlik AB in Turkey during Operation Desert Storm. I am standing next to a F-111E (68-0039) that I was assigned to as the DCC.
The third one is while I was at the Evergreen Air Center in Marana, Arizona and I posed in the intake of a United Airlines Boeing 747SP's number 3 Pratt and Whitney JT9D engine as the aircraft was in storage. This was a clue of where my career was heading and I didn't know it yet.
The fourth one I am taking a little break under a Airbus A320 in storage at the Evergreen Air Center again. Every aircraft in the background I also worked on including that NASA Boeing 747 space shuttle carrier aircraft.
The next two are from when I worked at Bombardier in Tucson, Arizona in building X. These two aircraft were in for C-check's at the time. Both aircraft are Canadair regional jets with the first one being a CRJ-700 and the second one is a CRJ-200.
The 7th and 8th pictures are when I was working at SIA (Singapore Airlines) Engineering at LAX. The first shot is me with a V Australia (now Virgin Australia) Airlines
Boeing 777-300ER and then me with a China Airlines Boeing 747-400 with the Boeing Livery paint job.
The last two pictures are of me at different times working for United Airlines. One of me in the cockpit of a Boeing 747-422 getting ready to move it and the final one of me next to another 747 just before I got on it for the final flight at LAX. 📷✈🔧#40Years#UnitedStatesAirForce#USAF#DedicatedCrewChief#AircraftMechanic#AircraftMaintenanceTechnician#AandPMechanic#EvergreenAirCenter#Bombardier#SIAEngineering#UnitedAirlines#UnitedAirlinesExpress#SkywestAirlines#Skywest#Boeing#Boeing777#Boeing747#B747#B777#Airbus#Airbus320#A320#CanadairCRJ200#CanadairCRJ700#CRJ200#CRJ700#GeneralDynamics#F111D#F111E
My intrepid sunbleached captain. I'll never forget, and hopefully nor will he, all of the positive influences he had at KSUT Cape Fear Regional Jetport. Pilots, mechanics, and skydivers. If he's smart he'll steer clear of aviation, but I'd never tell him that the long hours, literal blood, and sweat weren't worth it. Kid has more time at 7 than a first year Embry Riddle student. (Maybe not that much, but certainly more than most kids). Take your children to your local municiple airport. It is YOUR airport after all. There are plenty of folks hanging around that would be thrilled to share their experiences with you. Who knows. You may even catch a ride. (The likelihood is there). You never know what will spark a dream in a child. You never know how a foot can get caught in a door. The Crawford Auto & Air Museam was the germ in my seed. Then taking a plane ride turned into pushing a broom at an airport. Which eventually led me to become a mechanic. I take great pride in what I do. I get nervous the first time every single airplane I touch leaves the ground after maintenance. That feeling keeps me honest, and hopefully keeps my pilots safe. #aviation#airplane#aircraft#kingair#beechcraft#pilot#airport#airframeandpowerplantmechanic#aircraftmechanic#aircraftmaintenancetechnician#aviation#aviator
Each individual involved in the restoration of these two beautiful aircrafts had an active involvement in the project through the years, some not pictured and/or no longer with us and our team. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••From our A&P internship students and disadvantaged youth who came and went, social media manager, endless parts run, coffee/snack runs, shop cleaning, paint making, fabrication, fabric covering, restoration professionals, endless amounts of phone calls, emails, & #logbookentrys , to our highly skilled professionals who helped with interior, avionics, custom parts, paint ,pilots, owners and all other individuals we were able to reach out to in times of need, we are all • THANKFUL FOR EVERY SINGLE PERSON INVOLVED IN THESE PROJECTS• you are all apart of our #westcoastaircreations •TEAM•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••A huge Thank you to Matt Walker and Stephen Nussbaum for the endless amount of help and involvement in the Staggerwing project ••• @alan_alien_akairbrushing @ronmangusinteriors @ar_metal_restorations @conaircraft & many others to list!
Over the last 3 years we had the honor to restore both the #travelair and #staggerwing , A huge Thank You to Mark Lightsey at AeroCraftsmen’s and the owners of these aircrafts for believing in us! We delivered both projects within the same week! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Our team of gifted individuals at #westcoastaircreations who each posses some specialize but individual knowledge and/ or skills. We join our talents to achieve a project objective, we made it happen! Our overall result is greater than the individual contributions made by each member, together we did it!
