Morning! I’ve just had a hugely inspiring coffee with an 89 year old (new housekeeping client). She cheerfully told me about her family, life, current helpers and then - still in good spirit - all of her ailments, the doctors who’ve let her down and how she’s not afraid of dying. She’s called Grace and certainly lives up to her name. It made me realise - I am afraid of dying. I think about it every single day. What a waste?! Most of it I think is down to having young children and being afraid for their future if I wasn’t here, but also getting old, ill and housebound. If I can handle it like her I’ve nothing to be afraid of. But I’ve thought for a long time that the care of our elderly - and general respect - I think must be at an all time low in the UK. That upsets and scares me, what can we do about it? The demise of religion, neighbourliness, multi-generational living and tolerance of those that are slower has really taken its toll I think. I’m grateful to be in her life and have her in mine; looking forward to taking my dog and perhaps cutest child to see her soon - she used to train guide dogs for the blind and tells cracking stories in a brilliant Bedford accent 🐶 #newfriend#ageisjustanumber#respect oh this is the Bridge backdrop shot by @scottchoucino, and I’ll be picking the giveaway winner later today ✨
I mostly takeup cases of people that have given up on themselves.... done that, been there, tried all is what I generally get to hear but you know what "I am not giving up on you untill I make sure you are there, exactly where you need to be...healthy n happy"....if you have been my client you're already on the road to recovery and if you're a friend or family then you just need a kick from me for not taking control of your health.
I keep chanting that your thoughts n actions shape your life n as I was reading this book I could connect with every word, every case and felt the need to share with you all ☺
This is a must read for everyone.
Day 202 of #yogaeveryday 🧘🏼♀️
This mornings yoga was much needed, it was slow and calm with lots of breath focus and a beautiful shivasana to end, with my nurturing hand on my heart centre 💖
I’ve had a rough few days, burning the candle at both ends. And today I woke super anxious. Feeling like I couldn’t breathe. I am focusing on a new work project and it’s taking a lot of energy effort and time, but it is something I’m incredibly passionate about. And once I’m through the initial set up phase, things will settle. I had no idea that stress was slowly building up and I’ve been staying up too late and then not sleeping well which doesn’t help. I can feel that my cortisol is through the roof. I’ve been spending too much time on my phone plugging my new work venture and responding to calls and messages and I know that too much screen is not good for me. The irony is this project is #kidsmindfulness classes. And I’m not being very mindful. The universe has sent me on this journey to help kids and spread the mindfulness message, and for this I’m so incredibly and eternally grateful. I just need to remember to look after me. You can’t give from an empty cup. I am usually good at rest and self care but I kind of fell of the wagon in all the excitement of classes booking out and people messaging me at all hours. Time to reset 🙏🏻 .
What one item of clothing has stuck with you over the years? For me it’s always been a crisp white shirt. They’ve been with me through every stage of my life oh & red lipstick 💄 what’s yours ? #mavenstyle
For anyone that uses age as a reason to why they don’t live a healthy lifestyle then you need to follow this amazing woman @kelfriel
Kelly Friel has just come home from the competing in the Masters 40-45 category at the CrossFit Games and she came an incredible 2nd!
This woman is an inspiration and proves to everyone that age is merely a number. To say you ever get to the amazing levels of Kelly I don’t know, but you shouldn’t make your age an excuse not to look after yourself
Levels of ability are different for everyone, but to push yourself at your own ability is all that matters
Well done Kelly and look forward to meeting you properly soon @crossfitsouthampton
I love it when people I work with do well. I have had the pleasure of working with Steve on and off for 5 years and at 62 it was amazing to see him get 3rd place in the over 45,s in Manchester for men's physique. Like I always say, age is merely a number.
Eat well, exercise and use quality supplements and it's amazing what we can all achieve.
L sit pull ups - 10! @brucedierl ask me to train this as well. Looks more difficult than it actually is as I could already do L sit and pull ups, so just had to combine them. This also helps muscle up. Target muscle up by end of the year!
Cate Blanchet is feeling empowered at turning 50 next year⚡️💪🏻⚡️. “I think about it on an existential level but on a career level I refuse. It’s important to keep karate-chopping those doors down and creating new opportunities.” #determination#empoweringquotes
