I don't even know what this plant is, but it definitely captivated me. I'm learning to let go of the need to know everything around me - enjoy all that I experience: both the familiar and the foreign.
Hardest thing I’ve done while traveling: 10 Dollars a day through Eastern Europe for 15 Days INCLUDING Transportation.
Why? Everyone always complains about how expensive traveling is. When I look up living off budgets while traveling, no one ever includes transportation which is literally TRAVELING... My route: Lviv>Kiev>Odessa>Chisinau>Brasov>Bucharest>Sofia
Things that immediately come to mind as I fly over the Rila Mountains:
Sleeping in Bus Stations, Buses, Trains.
Eating only Bread, Eggs, and Pate straight for multiple days
Walking in actual freezing temperature with no jackets cause I didn’t realize I never planned to be in Europe this long.
But the biggest thing that comes to mind are all these amazing people that helped me in exchange for the stories I told. Whether it be meals, groceries, shelter, or water, they are huge contributors to my travels.
After adding up my total expenses for 15 days, I spent 145.55 USD at an average of 9.70$ per day.
Disclaimer: My flight from London-Lviv cost 24 dollars and factoring that in brings my perday expense to 11.30$
I learned that if I don’t calculate all my expenses, I start to quickly lose track of all the small things that can add up that brought me way over budget for a day meaning I had to find super cheap or free accommodation on others.
Would I do it again: Yes. It forced me to be uncomfortable and ask for help in countries where not many tourists visit this time of year. Through this, I met so many amazing people I hope to see again one day.
I know this isn’t something I’d usually post but aside from just enjoying myself, I wanted to try and do something good while traveling.
If I inspired or even entertained one person, I’d be stocked!
Thanks for reading 🙏
