#AfterIrma - My little green cottage was still standing- but the roof was partially ripped off and the damage inside( think ninja blender) was pretty bad with the amount of water a debris that got sucked inside... the property was pretty much littered with huge trees that were snapped like twigs-
In my other life, I'm an Art Therapist and once a week I give sessions in our local juvenile detention center.
When hurricane Irma hit Sint Maarten last year, I convinced the guys to write kind notes that we could send with the goods to the island.
The one who wrote this note gave me permission to share it, but I had been hesitant to do so. He was nervous to write it and didn't even want to let me read it at first. He decorated it himself and cut the corners out too.
Now that I have been to Sint Maarten last week (for my other job at @curadoet) and seen how they are still working very hard to rebuild and improve all that has been destroyed, I wonder if a simple note has any impact. But then I remember, you never know how someone else appreciates a few simple words of encouragement.
And I sure hope the words on this note were appreciated. They came from a very special heart.
