This was one of the coolest moments we witnessed on safari. Our truck was parked at a waterhole admiring a huge array of wildlife drinking from the spring. We saw giraffes, elephants, wildebeest, springbok, zebras, oryx etc...
And then suddenly they all left the waterhole and we didn’t know why. In the distance we saw two tiny dots approaching the water, once we realised what they were it was clear why the other animals had left. The waterhole went from being loud, bustling and crowded to being completely silent. This beautiful queen and her cub totally stole the show. They had a quick drink and then continued to walk up towards us until they found some shade to enjoy before the sun came down. What an awesome moment 👌🏼 #JedVentures#AfricAnimals
My 100th post. I wanted it to be special and what better way than a tribute to my Dad.
This is from way back in 2007 when my Dad and I used to go birding together. I shot this on an old Canon G9 PowerShot 12.1mp on one of those trips.
Love you Dad, you are missed every day.
Crossing through the land of giants.
It's one thing to see giraffes at the zoo, a whole different ball game to see them as they gracefully stroll through the infinite, wild landscapes they call home. It's only when you step inside their world and come face to face with these towering beauties that you realize just how elegant their noble demeanor is.
Unfortunately, these animals are now slowly, silently drifting towards an uncertain future, mainly due to poaching activities and to having their habitat converted into agricultural farms.
