We recently were honored to have 2018 National Geographic GeoBee Champion Venkat (aka Venky) aboard NG Endeavour II in the Galápagos. This was the 10th year we have hosted a GeoBee Champ on board.
“Looking back on the expedition, it was truly a once in a lifetime experience. We felt a real connection with the wildlife we saw, and the memories made here will stay with us for the rest of our lives. “- Venkat Ranjan, #NatGeoBee Champion

This beautifully strange tree is called a Dragon’s Blood Tree. It “bleeds” red sap. Have you ever heard of it? It’s endemic to the Socotra Archipelago between the Arabian Peninsula and Horn of Africa. We’re going to this incredible island in March and have just one spot left on the trip. Who wants in? Photo by @adventuresoflilnicki who is also co-leading the trip!
By this point, it had been raining long enough that I didn’t have a single bit of dry clothing to use to wipe the water from my lens and 15 minutes later I would discover a puddle of water just sitting in the bottom of my backpack. So the best images I have from this beautiful spot are only in my memory.
You haven’t lived until you’ve ridden a bus with no doors/walls thousands of feet in the air over a mountain cliff in Colombia. 😱 Yesterday I unexpectedly rode a chiva, an open-air public bus, for 4 hours through a tropical mountain from Riosucio to cowboy pueblo Jardin. It’s the only way to get between these towns. It’s also how the local farmers and cowboys get home and drop off mail. The chiva criss-crossed through jungle and breathtaking valleys, all the while playing lively salsa, classical, and tango music.
It was one of the most authentic and real experiences I’ve ever had. A highly underrated - and adventurous - thing to do in Colombia! There were only a few other tourists on the chiva with me, and I felt fortunate to have experienced something few people outside of Colombia ever would. But it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. The roads are very bumpy, the heights are very high, and you are experiencing Colombian jungle 💯%. Still, it’s one of my top highlights from my trip to Colombia so far. Highly recommend it. 👌

In recent years the quality of bike you can get when buying a complete has steadily been on the rise. Back in the day if you wanted a top of the line bike you had to build it from scratch, piece by piece. Nowadays you can get a great bike at a decent price with some real quality parts on it straight out of a box. But you have to know what you are looking for, so that’s where we come in.
In the middle of Jökulsárlón, Iceland’s most famous glacial lake. Looking for seals, watching the millenium old blue icebergs and gazing at the vastness and infinity of nature.
