We had been walking since 8.45am and at 4pm we had the choice of camping or finishing off the walk which we expected to take 3 hours, it took us 5 and half due to a wrong turn, then during darkness walking on cliff edges and scramling over huge rocks. But that extended moonlit walk was amazing, we felt like we were on top of the world watching the most beautiful sunset.
You know the moment when you are (playing the Wii) pushing off the ski jump and flying 110 feet (or 25 feet for Mom) and just free falling..... trying to keep your balance, lean forward and land softly?!
All the while, your heart is racing and the freezing cold (basement) air is making your eyes water and nostril hairs turn into icicles and your thoughts have turned to pure panic?
Sounds dramatic and life changing doesn’t it??!! .
What if instead of jumping off a Norwegian ski jump in Lillehammer and facing a catastrophic landing into the bottom of a fjord........ what if we lower the RISK yet raise the REWARDS?
I happen to know the fear of change is great. The unhappiness and frustration found in the everyday rut is sometimes more appealing..... because it’s comfortable and familiar. You KNOW it sucks. So when it DOES suck you aren’t surprised. .
I also happen to know that pushing outside my comfort zone...... living in the moment...... working hard each and every day...... showing up for my family...... showing up for MYSELF...... was a HUGE risk I took 2 years ago. At the time, I felt like I was leaping off a mountain without a plan and my goggles were fogging up!
Could I really carve out time each day to exercise? Guilt free? Could I lose the baby weight? Could I gain control over emotional eating? Could I lessen my anxiety? Could I improve my self confidence? Could I be a light to someone else? .
What I didn’t know was I wasn’t alone. I was never alone. There was no free fall. There was no crash landing. There was no freezing fjord. .
I was (and continue to be!!) loved, supported, encouraged and motivated! I have the plan and couldn’t be more EXCITED for the future. .
The best news is ...... that you don’t have to ski jump or even like the cold!
All you have to do is be willing to make a change. Decide that you are worth it. Decide the time has come. Decide there are no more excuses.
Message me and I will even share my de-fogger with you. 2019 is going to be too beautiful to miss.
That little pouty face 😍
All the beautiful Christmasy photos rolling in are making me squeal!
We're officially CLOSED for the Holidays until some time in the New year. I'm looking forward to some down time with my kiddos and the time to work on some projects for myself! And of course, Christmas ! 🎄
This time of year is extremely difficult for me to wrap my brain around. The chaos, the crowds, the name brands thrown in our faces, the sales, the rush. It’s so overwhelming and I’d rather hide under the covers until after the new year.
I’ve noticed more than ever that I crave solace and peace. I want to be away from the city and in open air. Alone with my thoughts.
Have you ever taken time to be alone with your thoughts? It’s actually quite scary sometimes. But also very refreshing. During the holidays I feel it’s more important than ever.
In the midst of the craziness the holidays bring out in people remember this: These family members won’t be here forever. These gifts and "wants" don’t define you as a person or make you more desirable to the human race. Make time to just sit. Be at peace. Enjoy the present moment and those around you. And do something kind for someone who needs it. Because I guarantee a kind gesture is worth more than any gift you’ll ever find at the mall.
Retreating my mind back to this solo hike around an alpine lake in Great Basin National Park.
The closer it gets to Christmas, the more I’m starting to realize that we’re actually going to be road tripping across the country. It’s so surreal that only a few months ago we were looking at houses, and now we’re getting ready to start out life together on the opposite side of the continent. I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful human by my side, and I can’t think of anyone that I would want to share this experience with more. 😙💕
Also, shout out to @denalisimonephoto for her amazing photography! Her work is one of the most amazing gifts we’ve ever received.
Setting off on an adventure into the mountains that surround @amanjiwo.
I’ve always been an adventurer, since I was a little kid. It’s the curiosity of the unknown and the thrill that comes with it that I love. What’s your favorite thing about adventure? I would love to hear what you love about it!!
