#tbt to sunset riding lessons outdoors. See you in spring!
We had a lesson indoors on Tuesday night and it definitely wasn’t this smooth. Lex is feeling the colder weather right now, which means I’ve got a lot of horse under me. 🔥
Aside from lunging and turnout (given), what do you guys do to keep your ponies quiet in the cold temps?
#WellnessWednesday 💪🏻 want to combine your passion for horses with a healthy exercise routine? (Hint: the answer is yes) Check out the packages offered from The Fit Equestrian so you can get started kicking butt in and out of the ring 🏃🏽♀️
In addition to Axel, I’m also so very lucky to own this special horse 💕
1) The Heist, but we just call him Easy ⭐️
2) he’s 15 years old ⭐️
3) Swedish Warmblood ⭐️
4) he’s named after my favorite @macklemore Album ⭐️
5) we found this giant unicorn/love of my life on a horse shopping trip in Sweden ⭐️
6) when I bought Easy I had just started riding again thanks to my extra income from @rodanfields. He took me from the Low Adults to the Low AOs! ⭐️
7) Easy is ALWAYS in the ribbons and carries some of the top points in the nation ⭐️
8) he is SO brave jumping! He would literally jump through fire. But... on the ground is a different story 😂 he’s scared of the silliest things like fly spray and a moving water hose haha ⭐️
9) everyone loves him because he has the face of a giant stuffed beanie baby ⭐️
10) Easy is currently loving life as he teaches a friend of mine the ropes of the Jumper ring ⭐️ #equestrian#showjumping#showjumping#adultammystrong#adultamateur#adultammy#hunterjumper#rodanandfields
These are just a few short clips from my last lesson. **LONG POST AERT🚨** Might not look like much, but it’s definitely progress for me. This is the first time I’ve jumped 2’6” (or anything over 2ft, really) since before I had my son. It’s crazy because I always had confidence issues & once I was finally comfortable schooling higher o/f, I got into a serious car accident shattering my collar bone & my right humerus resulting in several reconstruction surgeries (i now have a metal arm & collar bone), fracturing my back & pretty much crippling me from doing the simplest things. I was unable to even go to the bathroom unassisted for nearly 8 months... obv i had to stop riding for a year and half, forcing me to take a few steps back when I had just taken a step forward. Once I was cleared to ride again, I didn’t hesitate getting back into it, but my confidence suffered & it was still painful doing much more than flat work for quite some time. Once again after a little more time, i found myself getting comfortable, gaining confidence back & all..... and then i found out I was pregnant (unexpectedly) which has been the best thing ever, but ultimately my riding suffered once again. I stopped riding for the 9 months i was pregnant & then ended up having a c-section which pushed back my riding plans another almost 3 months. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a mom more than anything... but my heart has always belonged in the ring. Without horses in my life I think I would have actually gone insane. So, it’s been a roller coaster ride the past few years but I’m beyond happy to be back doing what I love, having so much support and amazing friends. I can say once again I feel my confidence creeping back up, and I’ve never been more motivated to keep moving forward, getting back to where I once was, and being better than I’ve ever been! 😍
If you read all that you are a complete saint! 🖤
QOTD: what do you do to help keep your confidence up/give yourself a confidence boost? 😉
Good morning 🌻
Which saddle brand do you choose and why?? I personally LOVE @cwd_official because it fits Leo and I like a glove. He is very uphill and has a flat back so the pro panel option has a wide gullet and allows more freedom of the shoulder. It's extremely comfortable, grippy and puts me in the correct position, especially over fences.

I’m writing about my experience at Harrisburg, so I can look back to remember the special day. I arrived at the show around 6:00 am and hacked pluto in the ring with all the other horses. Because there were so many horses, everyone went the same direction and the announcer told us when to change directions. There were two plain jumps set up that we popped over each direction. Pluto felt wonderful and wasn’t fazed by the ring or the traffic! After we went back to the stabling area, which was in basically a large warehouse, I cleaned my tack and boots and hung out with Pluto. We left to pick up my husband and daughter and grabbed breakfast, and we returned to the show right before the children’s hunters started. I watched some trips with my trainer and discussed how to ride the course. With only a few horses left in the first round, I went back to the stalls and got dressed. By then, the adults were starting. My friend was going earlier in the order, so I got on Pluto and walked around the schooling ring until it suddenly occurred to me that I should start hacking, which I did right before my trainers came back. We popped a few jumps (some from very tight turns), then headed to the ring where my trainers and I reviewed our plan for the course again. Then it was my turn. Pluto marched around like a pro, and I literally couldn’t have asked him to be be any better than he was! After my round, I sat in the stands with my trainers and friends, and it suddenly dawned on me that I might come back for the second round. When there were a few trips left, my trainer told me to get Pluto moving in the small warm up area. I was so shocked! Pluto and I did some transitions and then jumped a couple jumps in the very small warm up ring. As I waited to go in for my second trip, my trainer said, “this is just icing on the cake. Go have fun!” Pluto was perfect! After the final horse finished, all of the horses who did the second trip were called in to get ribbons and do a victory gallop. It was so exciting and such an unexpected outcome, and I can’t thank Pluto enough for being so wonderful (although the 6 carrots he got probably helped)! #pnhs#harrisburg#bestdayever#nofilter
When I started riding again after college I never expected to compete again. After lots of convincing, my amazing trainer got me to register for my first show after 11 years “off” in March. I am immensely grateful to her for giving me the tools, and the confidence to take my riding in front of a judge again. Life has a funny way of lining things up, putting you with the right people and presenting you with the right situations. I am extremely proud of this horse for showing up when it counts, and for making me earn it. And I am absolutely blown away that we will be going to Kentucky for the USDF Finals next month. Happiness is a girl and a horse ❤️🐴👸🏼 .
Hi, I’m Sabrina! I’m the author of H&B and pictured beside me are my never ending sources of laughter. I adore them both very much. I wanted to bring my passion for all things equine and my non-equine life experiences together to create something funny and relatable for every equestrian, thus Hairnets And Breeches was born! I hope to provide lots of laughs and great tidbits for each and every one of you throughout this blog series! I am thrilled to get to share my journey with you guys and connect with my other fellow equestrians!
QOTD: what do you love most about this sport?
What a day! Pluto was absolutely amazing at Harrisburg and ended up 10th in the NAL adult hunters! Thank you so much to @kfrancella, @sissywickes, Katie Cooper, and everyone from @cavesfarm for making this a reality! Thank you to my husband, mother, and daughter for being the best support system of all time! And, thank you so, so much to Pluto for being such a rockstar! I cannot begin to express how thankful I am for you! Also, thank you to everyone who sent me such sweet messages. It meant so much! Now, get ready for a ton of pictures and videos! #pnhs#harrisburg#nalfinals#horseofalifetime#dreamcometrue#pluto#nottheplanet
Ty... I think you cleared it 😂
Day three is done and oh boy what a whirlwind! I’ve learned so much over the course of three days, not only about riding but also about myself. 🌟
I used to be so scared of jumping bigger fences. It’s all I’ve ever wanted, but it’s always scared me to death. Coming back to the George clinic this weekend was a true test of my physical and mental state and I’m proud to say that I think I showed how much I have overcome in a year.
While I did take a tumble today, I stuck with my horse to the bitter end (don’t worry, there is an AWESOME photo of Ty jumping like a bajillion feet in the air 😂). Even just a few months ago, any little hiccup on course would leave me behind and on my horses face, but this weekend I was sure to follow through and be kind to Ty.
George called me tactful and later a bird brain, but he gave me 50 more hours of homework at the end of my session and told me to come back again next year. What a roller coaster! I can’t wait to see what these next 50 hours hold! #georgemorris#georgemorrisclinic#knowthyme#appendixhorse#americanwarmblood#showjumping#showjumper#adultamateur#adultammystrong#delislesporthorses#equestrian#hunterjumper

Great jump lesson today! I really started nailing my distances at this height. I chipped in on the first try (this is a move of mine I’m trying to fix) and then we got it perfect the second go around! Lily has really come such a long way! 😍
Swing and a miss Saturday’s! Everyone is so worried about posting perfect rides... here is what it looks like when you only get to ride your horse once a month 🤷🏼♀️ #swingandamiss#adultamateur#hunterjumper

Finally got to take doc cross country schooling for the first time since buying him. He was super as usual. We kept it slow with being a little muddy but ready to go #beginnernovice . #adultamateur thanks @shannonwillow for training and @bascule_farm for taking such good care of my horses
Buying a hackamore this spring was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Now that Lex’s mouth is feeling better, we primarily use a Myler Level 2 Kimberwicke, but I still like to hack without a bit at least once a week.
#tbt to last winter at the @worldequestriancenter with the WonderFrancis! I’m incredibly excited for the wedding, but I’m also really excited to get back to working hard with this studly beast. I’m a lucky girl to have so much to look forward to 💙
Me with the lovely doctors behind @rodanfields! So I promised you guys I would share with you how I was introduced to R+F and why I decided to start selling these amazing products! 💕
One of my good friends from college introduced me to the R+F product line and I loved them. I have always dealt with acne and these products were a life saver!!! ⭐️
I was intrigued by the business opportunity R+F offered. It made so much sense to me because you have two of the most successful doctors in the world creating fabulous products that will be sold online. I mean....genius because we buy everything online now! I was (and still am) very happy with my full time job as Vice President of an oil and gas company, but I thought to myself, “what if i start this business and it can fund my horses 💯?” I decided my R+F income would be the money I show with, buy horses with, pay board with...all of it. It could become my pony fund. And it took off WAY quicker than I had anticipated! Here I am with three amazing horses and I get to show and do what I love! I’m so thankful for what R+F has done for me. Imagine what it can do for you?! If you’re interested in potentially trying some R+F products or hearing about a career with R+F, DM me! I’d love to help you make your dreams come true! #equestrian#showjumping#showjumping#adultammystrong#adultamateur#adultammy#hunterjumper#rodanandfields#horse#horsesofinstagram#equestriansofinstagram#rodanandfields
