Happy 4 Months, Malachi! This month you learned to roll over both ways in bed but are pretty unmotivated to do it during the day. You sleep unswaddled and eat great after your second tongue tie revision. You have grown a whole lot and love to kick and stretch your legs. You giggle and smile at your mama like no one else and love to talk to your dad. You’ve made your first road trips to Florida and Nebraska and are a travel champion. Mom also discovered her favorite item of baby clothes are rompers. We love you so much buddy and can’t believe you are ours 🌈 👶🏻
Though we loved you the second we held you and brought you home from the hospital, this day 9 years ago we officially became your mommy and daddy. Life is so much better with you in it. Happy Adoption Day!!! #adoptionrocks#myheartandmysoul
This has become Sunnies signature look 😂
There were many times during our infertility and failed adoption journey where I would say to Ryan “I hate my life”. All I ever wanted was to be a mom, and to not have the one thing I dreamt and tried so hard for was so depressing. I had to do a lot of work on acceptance and envisioning our future just the 2 of us being fulfilling and enough. There were moments I could find deep gratitude for our present season but more often than not I was still left longing for a baby, and hating my life.
But this weekend I said to Ryan “I love my life” and it just made me cry happy grateful tears.
Our past of adversity and pain has become a beautiful helper in finding and exploring such deep, earth shattering joy.
I mean, look at this face.
We are in a season of joy, and I’m soaking it in for as long as possible ☀️💓#adoptionislove
Grove city residents, have you been to @transcendcoffee_grovecity yet? If not - we have a few amazing and exciting reasons for you to check it out next week. Monday night, June 25th they will be hosting an amazing art gallery from local photographers, one of them being my amazing coworker @josephasbury. During this gallery there will be an optional donation aspect to help @brandon.n.thomas and I get closer to being able to bring home Baby T through the love of adoption. We cannot wait to see everyone there and share the love of community and art. We will be there from 630pm-830pm so please stop in, grab an incredible cup of coffee and take a gander at some beautiful photography.
Real life... the best life... I am often told that these two precious babies are so lucky to have been adopted by us. Those comments, as well intentioned as they are, always get under my skin, because that is not how Jared and I see it at all. WE are the lucky ones to be given the PRIVILEGE to love these girls and to be their parents. Their stories might have begun out of darkness and pain, but those hard circumstances have no bearing on who they are and what they offer this world, or what they have given to our family.... which is immeasurable joy. They are amazing, so very amazing... and everyday, chaos, poopy diapers, exhaustion or not, I am humbled that they get to be forever mine.....
Children in foster care need to be affirmed of love and safety repetitively. You might get tired of saying it, but I promise the child is not and it is healing the brain and strengthening attachment every time you say one of these things;
1. Your parents love and miss you.
2. You are safe here.
3. I love you no matter what.
Juliette is looking for a family to call her own. Could that be you? 🐱 Juliette is six years old but don’t be fooled by her calm exterior – behind those beautiful green eyes lies the soul of a kitten! She’s a little anxious in new surroundings, but once she adjusts, she is a playful, active girl. We think she’d do well in almost any kind of home, including one with children. Come meet Juliette during adoption hours! #EASadoptables#adoptdontshop

Courtesy Post ‼️‼️ DUKE
I met Duke while he was being fostered by a shelter volunteer. He could only foster him for a short time (which helps out shelters so much with space) and Duke has been at the shelter for a while now. Both @the_canine_republic And myself are offering FREE private training sessions to anyone who ADOPTS or Long-term fosters DUKE. 💗🐾👏🏼 Here is what volunteers have to say about Duke...
. . .
5 years old, male pitbull, 65lbs.
LA - East Valley shelter
14409 Vanowen St.
Vam Nuys, CA 91405
. . .
He is super sweet, gentle, mellow and loves people. He has has been stuck back in medical for over a month because he has a slight limp in his back leg. He has luxating patella in his knee and needs medical attention. The shelter is overfull right now so he is in danger.
. . .
Here is what I learned from fostering him:
Crate trained (although when his knee was acting up I was concerned about him being able to turn around in the crate so I left him alone in my apartment a few times and he did fine.)
Good on the leash.
He will come when he is called... he kind of knows sit.
. . .
He doesn’t jump on people at all... he is respectful and not needy but loves to be petted.
He didn’t show aggression but needs guidance and to learn some social skills around other dogs.
He had no food aggression at all.. He is a pleasure to have around and a wonderful, sweet companion.

This little guy is a champ. My mama heart aches on these days, but @vumcchildren always takes such good care of him. We are so blessed to live in a city with an incredible Children’s Hospital.
It has only been four short months since Ghost came to be a part of this woods and water loving crew. At first, I was an excited, nervous wreck. I wondered if I could be good enough for Ghost. Then Scott reminded me that people who are beyond unqualified have human children, and that made me feel a little better. Now, I don’t ever want to picture a day without my Ghost dog. Thanks to the folks at @crittercavalry for connecting us with our soul goofball. #tennesseeghost#crittercalvary#aussieflat#negroni#ghostdog#bestbud#tongueboy#walkingdude#swimguy#adoptionrocks
My boy and me walking together 💙 He is our 8 year old son and he lives with us for 2,5 year now. The next weeks we will share pictures of our travel to China in 2015 to adopt this awesome boy. Come and join us back to China! #tbt
Spent the morning at @harmonyfamilycenter taking photos for the August issue of @westknoxville // So happy to spotlight a program with adopted kiddos AND animals! Is there a better combo? ❤️ #adoptionrocks#equinetherapy#pawsforkids
Jen Wright, founder of The Driven Mama, reached out to us recently asking to partner with us. Jen was in foster care the first part of her life until she was adopted at 9 months old. Foster care and adoption have been especially on her heart this past year as she has been unpacking all of the emotions & feelings about her journey.
While she hopes to do a Placement Bag Event with her local moms group in the future, she wanted to do something now. Her idea was to donate her entire paycheck for the month of May to FLM. 🙉 Needless to say, we were blown away by the generosity of this offer!
Yesterday, Katie was able to meet Jen in person and received a check for the full amount of her May earnings! Businesses being run by people like Jen are the type that we seek to not only support & purchase from, but also partner with. Her integrity, generosity, love, & light are so apparent in meeting with her.
Thank you to everyone who has donated in some way, big or small. It all matters & we are so grateful to everyone who has shown love & kindness to our foster community here in Minnesota. ❤️❤️❤️
It’s been three years!!! Three years ago today this precious little girl became forever our girl. The bumpy road to get is to this day was worth every shed tear and every prayer we prayed. We are so thankful for this day as we look back and reflect on all it took to get us here. Happy adoption day my sweet baby girl!!!
Do y’all know about Juneteenth? On June 19th, 1865 the last remaining slaves in America (living in Texas) were freed *two and a half years* after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. This date has long been celebrated as “Juneteenth” and is the oldest Emancipation celebration in America, but I had never heard of it until last year!! I’m ready to make up for lost time, though... Happy #Juneteenth , y’all!!
On Sunday we got to visit Generations Church, the church where Ms. Judy attends. Ms. Judy is the widow we served for our Both Hands project. We also got to share our adoption with the congregation. This church was so supportive in our journey and it was so great to share how God faithfully brought us Lexi. We are so thankful for all who supported our Both Hands project. You all are a part of Lexi’s story ❤️ #bothhands#carefortheorphansandwidows#adoption#adoptionrocks#lovemakesafamily
Adorable, wiggly Dexter! We just can't get enough of this face. We know you'll fall in love just like we did. Come visit Dexter this week Tues.-Fri. 2-7pm or weekends 11-4pm. ❤️😍 #adoptDexter#adoptacitypet
