This is what #balance looks/feels like for me at the moment. Most of the time I feel strong, fit, even the beginnings of confidence. But I still have moments where I don’t like what I see yet, when I feel defeated looking in the mirror and picking out all the flaws. I have to DAILY remind myself that life is different now, juggling a toddler and budding career. My body is different now, post baby and a few other issues. I don’t look or feel like the woman I was a few years ago, and that’s ok, I have to remember that that’s ok. I’m healthy. I’m getting fit. I’m showing up every day and doing my best with where I’m at right now. I’m playing the long game. 🌟Golden Pyramid of Fat Loss🌟
🕺🏼Have you been spinning your wheels trying to lose fat?
🤯For so long, I focused on the wrong thing. I wasn’t tuned into my diet, I was doing boatloads of cardio, not lifting weights, drinking skinny teas and taking fat burners. If it said “lose weight fast”, I probably tried it!
⚠️Here’s the golden pyramid of fat loss for you guys!
1️⃣Calorie Deficit: Eating less calories than your body needs is the only way to lose fat!
2️⃣Eat Enough Protein: to maintain muscle mass, to recover from workouts, to keep you full and satiated when you’re dieting and so you get toned aka you don’t turn “skinny fat”
3️⃣Lift Weights: 2-5x a week! (usually 3-4 is a sweet spot for most people) don’t be afraid to go heavy, it WON’T make you bulky unless you eat too many calories
4️⃣Sleep: 7-9 hours a night to recover, rest and keep your hunger levels in check. when you don’t sleep enough, your body will be hungrier. so get those Zzzs!
5️⃣Cardio, Movement, and 10k steps/day. Finding active hobbies you enjoy will keep you consistent and make it a lot more fun.
☝🏼Find what works for you, your lifestyle, habits, and preferences. Focus on the BIG stuff and don’t let the little things distract you from the big picture. Hope you have a kickass Friday! 💪🏼🤙🏼

The Basic Sun Salute FAO Harrogate Tri Club
It’s a quick demo so it fits into a video but take one full breath each time you move. Other points to note;
1. Don’t worry about your heels touch the mat/floor in the Down Dog
2. Tight hamstrings mean you need to bend your knee in your Down Dog to be able to maintain a straight, long spine.
3. To start, engage the legs, tuck the tail bone, belly button to your spine, shoulders down and gaze forward. We’ve been practicing with feet hip distance.
4. 5 full breaths in Down Dog
5. Your Down Dog doesn’t have to be static, step out your feet, wiggle your hips, nod your head, tip toes; do what you feel you need to.

@theselflovesummit #Adventchallenge Day 14: Move your body! I have been so sick this week and resting to recover has been my biggest priority. So not much moving happened yesterday. Throwback to my favourite kind of moving though!!! 🙌🏻 I’m excited to be back dancing next week! Yay!!!
My insta posts will never have matching filters or a neat presentation. I don’t believe in convincing others that a couple of carefully crafted, matching images of seeming perfection represent my life. To me life is unpredictable and messy. Each day brings out an abundance of colors, ebbs and flows consisting of joys, surprises, crushing disappointments, small victories and loses. Each day has its own unique filter. Some are filters of happiness. Some are laced with sadness. Some demonstrate victories of overcoming adversity,challenges, fears, stagnation. Some are of endings long over-due and new scary beginnings. Although some may believe that I live in paradise. Both the place and my life are far from paradise. We are continuously facing environmental, social and political challenges and there are no easy, clear-cut solutions or quick fixes. Personally I am going through grieving the lost, accepting the new, learning, overcoming and letting go of what doesn’t fit anymore. It’s a process like shedding your skin. My posts are my landmarks of where I am at. They reflect my very essence: that daily compulsion to seek out beauty, to inspire, to elevate, to instill hope regardless of how miserable, angry, helpless or hopeless I may feel at a particular moment. My world is not perfect in any way yet sometimes it’s surprises me with a beauty that makes my breath catch and feel alive and immensely grateful to have lived through it all ❤️
