New paper studies delivered to @maestrigallery in time for Small Business Saturday and the Deep Ellum Mimosa Walk on 11/24! I have the rest of holiday minis (framed 4x4), original unframed paper studies (perfect for new collectors!) and larger wrapped canvas + framed paper pieces available #maestrigallery#smallbusinesssaturday#parallelstudioart
still in progress - the colours are not exactly right but the days seem to darken precisely when I am about to take pictures. That's very rude of them and I refuse to surrender so there you go... I'll try to take a really great shot when it's finished 😁
“Miles Across,” a painting I did last year that ended up looking vaguely like a map of the U.S. (obviously very vaguely - Florida is almost not there!). But maps are only symbols that represent meaning - just as abstract art can represent meaning without being a literal interpretation. When I look at this non-map map or whatever you want to call it, I think about how divided our country is right now, but also how rich, and textured, and layered. How much beauty is around us, inside and outside ourselves.
(And no, I did not just micro-dose some ecstasy! I honestly feel this way, when I take a moment to breathe and see things as they are, underneath the noise and fear.)
Anyway... you’ve heard it all before. Tomorrow is not just a referendum on Trump, but on who we are as a country, as a people. Let’s wake up and vote for the America we want to see - full of beauty and multiplicity and positive change!
