It’s been a busy week on the life front but I’ve been knocking out more e-course work, little by little, in both stolen and scheduled chunks of time. This one turned into something quite different from my original plan but thank goodness for that! Getting closer and closer to the finish line! I hope it inspires you to keep working through your ideas, even if you feel a bit stuck at first.
With hoops like these, I usually just stitch until I think it looks like it’s finished. 🤷🏻♀️ Supplies: hoop stand is from @hawthornhandmade, floss is from @dmc_embroidery, and linen fabric is from @joann_stores.
Nothing new today, but I wanted to post something lovely. 🤕 I suffered a pretty grisly head injury a couple days ago when I fainted in the kitchen. I’ll spare you the details, but I’d appreciate your prayers and good vibes. It’s healing well and I’ll be better soon. I’m thankful to have the support of sweet friends & family and my husband’s care for the kids while I spend the weekend recovering and stitching in my cozy spot. 🤗 This has been a hard lesson in listening to what my body needs and paying better attention to meeting its needs. I hope you take that advice today!
This simple wreath took me FOREVER to do. It was the first project I took on after having my son, and I was not prepared for how little free time I was going to have once that happened.
Actually, funny story.. I drew up this pattern prior to having him and put it in my hospital bag in case I had a long labor! 😂 Umm, no! Not only was my labor so short I didn't even have time to text my best friends, but no maniac would ever be in labor and think, "you know what I feel like doing? Embroidery!" I digress.
Well, he's 8 months old today and I've spent as long adjusting to only having bits and fragments of time to work on creative projects (or any projects). Even so, I've found that in those tiny windows of "me time" the only thing I want to do is create. So that's what I'm going to do.
Shout out to all the other mamas out there making it happen even when you are last on the to-do list. 😘🙌🏼
“ Books are a uniquely portable magic” - Stephen King 📖 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ever since I discovered the magical world of “book page flowers” on Etsy, I’ve wanted to try it out for myself. However, until very recently I convinced myself that it was too hard. Not anymore! It started with the realisation that my original copy of Goblet of Fire was no longer readable - in other words, almost as worn as Dobby’s Pillow Case. I couldn’t bare to part with it, so the only logical solution was some WitchCRAFTing wizardry! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the past month, I’ve branched beyond my own bookshelf to @oxfambookshops, where I’ve discovered Preloved copies of fantastic beasts and beedle the bard, not forgetting an especially well-worn edition of The BFG! It’s safe to say that flowers and books are now as magical to me as Flourish and Blotts. I’m still learning, but my goal is to list some bookish bouquets by Christmas - where’s there’s a witchCRAFTER, there’s a way 💫
Ps: 10 points for the person who can you guess which books/stories these pages belong to 📚
The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the FAT BEE hasn't been around for a few weeks and I have to admit that I haven't been completely honest about his whereabouts. It's a long story but, whilst flying back from filming the Casualty Christmas special in which he reprises his role as accident-prone stripper Hunk McSexington, the FAT BEE's private plane hit some turbulence. Unfortunately, this coincided with him opening the cabin door for some fresh air... 😲 Despite the tireless efforts of the international coastguard, there was no sign of the FAT BEE and he was declared missing, presumed... well, you know. 🙁 Hours became days and days became weeks but, still, no news. Until yesterday! As a passenger plane flew over a tiny and uninhabited island 50 miles off the west coast of Australia, the pilot noticed something glinting in the sunshine. He put on his glasses and squinted at the tropical sands below. Sure enough, there was the FAT BEE, naked, glistening with coconut oil and using his years of stripping experience to perform the most memorable and eye-catching SOS the world has ever seen! Welcome home, the FAT BEE! 💛🐝💛
Anyone else feeling a bit like they might implode from all the autumn decor and craft ideas that are about?! There’s so much inspiration - like this tablescape by @laurmcbrideblog - but I’ve no where near enough time or energy to do something with it! 😍🍁🌿

A week of #adobeillustrator while I work on two lovely commissions, drawing out fancy little florals. These ones will eventually form part of a larger detailed papercut, but for now let’s enjoy their perfect simplicity 🌿
Tomorrow it is officially fall. Which means today is the last day it’s acceptable to photograph yourself with pom pom flowers (jk that’s always acceptable 😉). (This pic was inspired by @ramona_rosales photo of @aliwong . ) Happy Friday, people!
I used to be a one & done kind of girl with patterns... there’s just too many amazing patterns to sew to make something more than once! But every now and then a pattern comes along that changes the game. For me It was the @truebias #ogdencami ! This pattern is such a quick sew, so versatile, and hack-ready ... how can you not sew more than one!? (These aren’t even all of them, I have one not pictured) .
The #embroidmurray is what started this little hobby several years ago. After wanting an embroidery of Bill Murray and not being able to find one, I started making my own and eventually branched out to what you see today. You know I couldn’t go the day without posting about the man who started it all- Happy birthday to Bill freaking Murray, the legend of all legends here at the folklohr.
Happy Friday! Here’s a quick sneak peek of something we worked on this week. What you don’t see in the photo...me standing at the top of a ladder, while Jeff holds onto me from the ground (because #39weekspregnant ) and @eemmariee masters the perfect hand placement in 90 degree weather. 😂😜 It’s a strange life over here sometimes. But I love it. What are you up to this weekend?!
I turn 26 today! 🎉🤗 Come celebrate my birthday with 25% (Because they wouldn’t let me do 26% 😜) OFF everything in the Etsy shop now through Sunday! Cause let’s be honest, an order from one of you is the best present I could receive! 💖
