Inside back story to my life as in indie dyer!
My #findyourfadeshawl will be my first ever knitted project completed, crazy I know! I think I'm probably the least experienced knitter out of the other indie dyers out there. I do have tons of crocheting experience though! So when I started dyeing yarn, it wasn't because I knew of this industry. Quite the opposite. I had no knowledge of it! 😱 I didn't learn about the existence of Hedgehog Fibres and the like until a few months after starting my yarn biz. I only started dyeing yarn because there was an online class teaching it and it looked like fun. I haven't even knitted or crocheted with Indied Dyed Yarn before except my own. Well does #lornaslacesyarn count? My point is, I didn't have a goal in mind of what I wanted my colorways to look like, I just started adding color using the techniques that I learned in my class. Now over time I have dramatically changed my techniques and have learned from how my colorways used to look like and I liked them but I knew I could do better. So I hope you love how the new colorways look and the reasoning behind them. My goal is to create colorways that blend beautifully especially for garments and shawls. I had to solve a problem for myself and I think it in turn solved a problem for you.. Which are my swatches. I still need to photograph them, but aside from that, my techniques are very much organic and it's been so much fun just trying to creates my own style. If anything this shawl is a testament to my progression as a dyer. I have my first colorway ever made to my most recent 😉➰➰🌸➰➰🌸➰➰🌸
Please comment below, I would love to hear feedback and also if you would have ever guessed of my back story 👇🏻
Ahhh I can't believe this amazing weekend is already over 😢 But I had a fantastic time. I met so many wonderful people, met some of my clients that are here on IG plus all of @blissyarns clients, talked about yarn, knitted for the first time at a yarn shop with other ladies 💗, ate at some super yummy eateries AND saw my seester (sister 😂) it's been a few years 💃🏻💗🌈 Thank you Deb for getting me out here, thank you Mary Lynn for hosting me at your beautiful home and for being my driver and to your brother who picked me up at 4 am 😱 to take me to the airport!
I'm at the airport and I'm just waiting for my flight that leaves at 6:50 I will hopefully be home tonight by dinner time to see my kids and relieve my sick husband who's been holding down the fort for me.
O.M.G this is heavy 😂😂😂 I was halfway in pain because I had already "curled" this bag about 7 times before my husband decided to take the photo and laughing because my arm was starting to cramp up 😂
