Fact: the first time I tried clapping push ups I was 100% confident I was either going to land on my face or break my wrists 🤣 Neither happened. I survived. 💁♀️
Moral of the story - continue to try new things and work on exercises that are challenging for you! Have you been doing incline push ups? Great, try a couple from the ground next time and see how it goes. Got a couple? Keep practicing and I bet you’ll have a few more in a couple weeks.
Push ups are incredibly beneficial for multiple reasons. They’re great for strengthening the upper body including the pectorals (chest), triceps, and shoulders. If done with proper form (neutral spine, tuck the hips), they are also effective at strengthening the core 💪
There are several variations for you to try in the video. I didn’t get the best shot of the tricep push ups, but hands should be in a close grip and slightly narrower than shoulder width apart. Elbows should come straight back.

I know I posted yesterday about making time for a workout in your day but let’s be real, sometimes things happen. Today was one of those days. It was incredibly busy & stressful coupled with a sick baby, so the workout didn’t happen.
BUT exercise isn’t the only kind of self love. One of my favorite me time things is to take a bath. Today is a special day for me. It's exactly 18months since my first day at crossfit and my first day of changing my life around for reals! At my heaviest I was 129kg. I started crossfit at a massive 124kg. I'm now 88kg (36kg down) and healthier than I've ever felt. Only 16kg to go to get to goal weight. Really looking forward to starting phase 2 of my journey- focusing on strength, skill, technique and maintenance 😃 Thanks to everyone who has been a part of my journey and for all the support. In February 2017, I wanted to lose 7 pounds before my spring break trip. I started a diet that has worked for me in the past and took advantage of the gym in my apartment. I saw posts on facebook about products intended to boost metabolism and burn fat; I figured, why not try these out? The worst thing that would happen is they wouldn’t work, right? Wrong. In 2 weeks of dieting, exercising, and taking these pills, i GAINED 20 pounds. .
I tried every method of weight loss that I've previously succeeded with for 10 months, but those extra pounds stubbornly stuck around. I felt like my body acted completely differently after taking those pills, and I was suddenly unfamiliar with how my body responded to food, stress, and activity. I could no longer keep the pounds off and gained another 20 pounds. I felt like a prisoner in my own body.
It wasn't until I joined my online fitness community that I found a plan that worked for me. I’ve lost 25 pounds so far, and I’m continuing towards my goals. I'm no longer an unhappy and unhealthy prisoner, and I owe it all to my group’s support and motivation. I've learned that you don't get long term results from a quick fix or magic pill, but rather committing yourself to a healthy lifestyle.

This can be really hard to do when you realise you’ve accepted shit people and situations into your life that are not serving you and not allowing you to grow in the right direction.
The power and transformation doesn’t lie in being perfect, being in denial, and not making mistakes. It’s in acknowledging our role in the situation and accepting the lesson.
The transformation lies in the decision and action we take to turn it around and move onto better things.
Make the choice to let go of what hurts you, even if it’s painful (that’s when you know something is shifting) and cultivate what serves you to your greater good.
