Since Hurricanes Irma & Maria, animals have not been a priority. But through our Animal Rescue project, we are changing that. ⠀
From providing basic food, vaccines, and necessities, to flying an animal from the BVI to the states for the chance at a better life, we are rescuing these animals who otherwise would have no other hope.
Last Sunday, Fr. Andrew Garcia, SJ led our annual summer retreat. The theme was "Sight and Sin," and it provided a great time to reflect, catch-up with past volunteers, and learn how sin affects our perception of the world and those around us. Thank you to everyone that has supported and made STL possible!

Featured Volunteer: Aryo Patel
When it comes to reliability, rising junior Aryo Patel stands out. Although during the school year he has been unable to come to BinaryHeart, due to his responsibilities to other commitments such as chess, fencing, and playing the guitar, he has been more than making it up by attending our summer sessions without fail. While he’s here, he milks every minute for its full worth, showing full focus on his work. He’s quickly learning the ropes with working with computers, incorporating skills he has learned as a IT intern at New Trier.
Thank you Aryo, for your contributions so far, and we hope to this promising young member digital access!” #4charity#causes#donate#change#volunteer#activism#dogood#charity#fundraising#philanthropy#computers#technology#digital#access#help
Saturday at the nursery started with our hero Justin from Amazon Construction picking up opala we could not do by hand and placing it in the huge dumpster. Amazon Construction has the best big boy toys and we are blessed that they share their professional time with us. Mahalo Justin! We have more hand work to do in the back fields so we will put out a kehea soon. We need have volunteers to walk the field and bag broken plastic pots, PVC, irrigation tubes, and such before we start preparing for community gardens. Mahalo to Jeannine for hand watering all the plants - yep, we hand water until our irrigation is fixed. Mahalo to Hui Nalu for their donation to help us contract a professional to help with irrigation repairs. It has been three months of response work to the April 13th storm. We remain in high spirits about the rebuild because of volunteers and lovely community folks like Justin. Mahalo to you if you are reading this and have already donated and/or volunteered. Adoptable Smooch (left) and Sally may be tiny (at least for now 😍), but they have big dreams! 🤗 They can't wait to have their very own toys, a nice bed, yummy treats, and of course a home to call their very own. Both came to us from South Carolina and are here in town, waiting to meet their special somebody(s). Can you help make a puppy's dream come true? 💕

“You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord!” Philippians 139:13-14

When we first decided to hold meetings this summer, we had low expectations. We believed that our turnout would be immensely reduced, as it was unusual for a club to run over vacations. However, over the past couple meetings we’ve had this summer, we’ve been blown away by our volunteers’ dedication to our cause. To honor our volunteers, who have been spending hours each week working with dirty, often frustrating computers, we have decided to start recognizing our volunteers on our social media.
We shall be posting our first feature next Tuesday, the day before our first meeting of the week (over the summer, we meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30p-5p). We will be choosing to honor Aryo Patel, who last Wednesday received the honor of “Volunteer of the Week” for his outstanding diligence and focus during our session.
Thank you to all our members for helping us to “Spread digital access!” #4charity#causes#donate#change#volunteer#activism#dogood#charity#fundraising#philanthropy#computers#technology#digital#access#help
