We have all had a bad race. For me, this was definitely one of them!
I hit the wall at 10k. Something I didn’t expect to happen. Particularly so early on in the race.
My finish time was a good hour slower than I wanted and I felt hideous!
I cannot tell you the number of times I thought about pulling out! But I didn’t, I kept going. I just had to finish, f*ck the time!
So what did I learn from that experience? Well, a lot. Pay more attention to the weather, listen to my body more and ALWAYS run your own race!
Finish what you started and NEVER GIVE UP!
I got this journal for Christmas last year. As much as I love all things digital love this to fill out every month and it’s a great keepsake to look back on from the year. Looking for running Christmas ideas it’s in @frompaperchase x
All my lovely friends and fellow runners know how heartbroken and disappointed I was with my London marathon, which went wrong from start to finish. I felt it did not reflect the hard work I put in over eight months. But, time has helped and I finally got our medals framed. I do now feel quite proud of finishing as I am no runner but the support of all our family, friends and donators got me through and helped us to our final £12,600 total. #vlm#vlm2018#marathon#londonmarathon#fundraising#addenbrooks#macmillan#cancer#survivor
Bloody love our amazing clients!
Here they are having just smashed a bunch of 400, 300 and 200m repeats at our weekly #GTRunClub 🏃♂️🏃♀️

I've been properly slack with my training recently. If I am totally honest I never really got back into it after #vlm2018 . My diet has been ok, but no proper training combined with too much booze has resulted in me feeling really miserable about myself.
Well, that changes from today. I have a fresh outlook and have set myself some goals. I'm running the #mkrocket5k2019 race and am part of a relay team for the #mkmarathonrelay2019 so want to try to PB in both. Then the #26 .2 and I have some unfinished business. I didn't do my best in London so I'm going to give @bournemouthmarathonfestival a shot.
I'm going to get on top of my training and my lifestyle in general. There are some other exciting things coming up such as studying for my L1 coaching for @brittri and helping train the little ones at #phoenixtrimk l. It also helps that @alexdutton2509 is training for the @ironmanswitzerland #70 .3 so we can encourage each other.
"You can only achieve your dreams when you start believing in yourself" That's what 2018 has been all about for me and 300 miles later, this is what I've got to show for it, the #MedalMonday I've always dreamed of 😍....But what's next? After yesterday's soggy #Yorkshire10miles , I'm ready to park the racing for this year and start to find my next challenge, there will always be the task of improving my running times now I've created a base, but what else ?? ... if I can go from non runner to this in a year, there is nothing stopping me now.... or anyone else for that matter, just get out there and do It!!!
3 Marathons Down, 3 To Go!
Can’t believe that I still have three marathons left in 2018, whose idiotic idea was that? Oh and a 50K in December.
Paris, London and Moscow are done and dusted but...
First up is next weekend’s Snowdonia Marathon. Seven days later is the New York Marathon. Two weeks after that is the Broadway Tower Trail Marathon.
I think it’s a bit optimistic to believe that another PB is possible in one of these races if I’m honest. Snowdonia is regularly labelled one of the UK’s toughest road marathons. While New York would could be a PB course, my body will still be recovering from the brutal Welsh mountains. Broadway is a very very hilly trail race in the middle of November so just surviving it will be a miracle!
So my aim for these final few races of 2018 is simple; savour the moments! Enjoy the views of my favourite marathon, soak up the atmosphere of New York’s biggest block party and get very muddy on my home turf.
I’ve done what I set out to do this year with regards to at least PB-ing in marathon distance (times below) so all that is left is to revel in the runs!
Paris Marathon: 5:05:11
London Marathon: 5:21:04
Moscow Marathon: 4:31:20 PB!
TBT. Seeing everyone getting their ballot results reminds me of what an awesome day this was. It was hard work, the training was brutal and seemed never ending but the support @cwc_uk_events with @philroberton gave was first class and made such a difference. 👍👍
If you got a place, enjoy every moment of it, your whole world is about to change.
I didn’t get a ballot place this year so everything is crossed for a charity place 🤞🙏
Lost count now. Getting close to 10 years of unsuccessful ballot entries now. Who are these people that get in first time?! @londonmarathon your ballot system is supposed to make it fair but it’s pretty damn useless to be honest.
Officially a runner!
Try my luck for 2020. I would have felt super guilty getting in first time so at least the morality isn't hanging on my head now 👌
Congratulations if the running gods smiled upon you today. Train hard, and enjoy! 💪
