Another year, another spelling bee!
Last year, our pupils from two schools competed with the hopes of obtaining the two computers, and the plethora of school supplies Book to Read gave out. We even made it to page 13 of the Ghanaian Times! We accomplished all of this without any outside funding nor resources. Alas I find it of the utmost importance that we move in the direction of corporate sponsorships. This will not only aid our current students, but also help us in reaching a wider range of participants!
Some of the benefits of sponsoring the event are as follows; You will have a direct impact in the development of the youth of Ghana. The youth play a vital part in the future of a country. Therefore by contributing to the development of the youth, you are indirectly contributing to the development and sustainability of Ghana. Each sponsorship package has benefits for the sponsor built in: website advertising, social media, company’s logo on letter heads and branded T-shirt, pull-up banners, flyers etc.
In most settings consumers are inclined to tune out advertising. albeit, working with youth programs offer a positive and engaging way to market a brand. Overall this can evoke a community wide feeling that a company understands the impact and importance of educating children. This can actually install loyalty among a business’ current and future patrons. The sponsorship packages include the following; First position - Certificate, laptop, dictionary and sponsorship package, First runner up - Certificate, mini laptop, dictionary and sponsorship package, Second runner up - Certificate, kindle, dictionary and sponsorship package, All participants – Certificate and sponsorship package. (Sponsorship packages are subject to negotiation.) Kindly message myself or @booktoreadfoundation for further information! #usambassador#booktoread 📚 #ghanaeducation#womenengineers#letsteachthefuture#educationfirst#chairty#donationsneeded#sponsorshipsavailable#sponsorus#westafrica
China summoned the US ambassador on Saturday to lodge an official protest over sanctions imposed by the United States against a Chinese military organisation for buying Russian fighter jets and missiles, state media said.
The announcement came a day after China called on the United States to withdraw the sanctions or “bear the consequences”. The spat adds to tensions between the two global powers over trade, China’s treatment of religious groups and the Asian country’s claims to disputed islands in the South China Sea.
Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang summoned Ambassador Terry Branstad and “lodged solemn representations over US sanctions against (the) Chinese military,” the People’s Daily said in a brief report online.
On Thursday, Washington placed financial sanctions on the Equipment Development Department of the Chinese Defence Ministry, and its top administrator, for its recent purchase of Russian Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets and S-400 surface-to-air missile systems.
Officials said it was the first time a third country has been punished under the CAATSA sanctions legislation for dealing with Russia, and signalled the Trump administration’s willingness to risk relations with other countries in its campaign against Moscow.
Russia also lashed out at the US sanctions, accusing Washington of playing unfairly and using new measures to squeeze Moscow out of the global arms market.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday that “Washington’s continued sanctions hysterics” dealt a new blow to US-Russia ties but could not immediately say if Moscow would retaliate, or how.
The Chinese military expressed “strong indignation and resolute opposition” to the sanctions, the defence ministry said Saturday, echoing a foreign ministry statement the previous day.
Ministry spokesman Wu Qian said the US move was a “a flagrant breach of basic rules of international relations” and “a stark show of hegemonism” that severely damages relations between the two countries and their militaries, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
A Bloomberg News story on Thursday, quoting US Ambassador to Germany Richard Allen Grenell, said he had led talks with Volkswagen over the past weeks, hammering out the final details of its new Iran stance on Tuesday.
However, a company source said there had been no talks with Grenell on Iran. And a VW spokesman told Reuters that the company’s position had not changed in recent weeks.
Asked about the VW response, U.S. embassy spokeswoman Christina Higgins said: “The U.S. ambassador has been speaking for quite some time to CEOs and industry leaders urging that they comply with U.S. sanctions.”

Last night I had the privilege of attending the reception to bid farewell to #usambassador to #botswana , Mr Earl Miller.
I feel blessed to not only have met but to have come to know such an incredible leader.
He leaves this country having given me the gift of a leadership style I will emulate, and for that I am eternally grateful.
Hurrah, we have reached 2000 followers on Instagram and Ambassador Braithwaite is celebrating with cake! 🎂🍰🎉 Thank you to each and every one of you for following. We love sharing what the U.S. Embassy is up to here in the Kingdom of Norway🇳🇴. Please tell us, what would you like to see more of? And what would you like to see less of? #embassylife#usambassador#3000next#cakeeveryday#thankyou#AmbBraithwaite#USandNorway 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I survived my first week of studying and interning abroad! So grateful to be an #InternationalScholar#GilmanScholar#USDeptofState#USAmbassador 😅 Please read the full portion below.
Please keep pressing and going after your dreams in the LORD and in Him only. Jesus/Yeshua is the only way to get to the real you, your real purpose, and your real home (in Heaven). Ask me how I know, cause I tried all the other foolishness of the world before and NONE of it would have led me to this opportunity! I would have been robbed of what God had for me because I’m so lost in the sauce/living in bliss ignorance.
Let everything go that you know is holding you back, TODAY. I promise you, true purpose and proper position with JESUS feels MUCH better than comfortable and unrecognizable destruction with the world. (Friends of the world = enmity with God/destruction)
And yes, it means refusing to hang with “good friends” and “nice person” type of people b/c they lead you astray so easily, and relationships God didn’t approve of from the beginning. (Since sometimes we like to act like we don’t know what’s REALLY going on! We are smarter than we think!!!! Had to get specific there so you can get my point, love you dearly)
From Guayaquil, Ecuador I bring you greetings but, from my heart I urge you to please submit yourself to Jesus Christ. You ain’t living your best life until you’ve done that, so don’t let catchy songs and carefree lifestyles fool you into thinking that you are!
Shoot the messenger if you’d like (“she acting so holy”, “it’s not that serious”, been talked about before) but, there will come a time when it will be too late for you to receive another testimony so, I gotta do what I gotta do.
Until I post again, SHALOM and BLESSINGS!!! 😘🇪🇨🇺🇸

One of the highlights from the month of August was meeting the US Ambassador HE Stuart Symington for the 3rd time. He is full of inspiration and ideas. Never a dull moment with him.
One statement he said that I can never forget, "Never get involved in corruption as you can never know how experience it would be to get out of it" paraphrased.
It was also an honour having Benjamin Williams around.

#🇪🇨 Happened to find myself chatting about bird watching this morning over breakfast with the US Ambassador to #Ecuador . It was enlightening to hear him speak about his work. He has/is doing some really good things around the world. He’s the one in the group picture giving a thumbs up.
He mentioned he and his wife are avid bird 🐦 watchers and that Ecuador is a haven for amazing and beautiful birds. Hey did mention something they nicknamed ‘LBJ’. That is an acronym for Little Brown Job which stood for the small brown birds that are so prevalent all over the world. Bird watchers generally get exited for bigger and/or more colorful birds.
I have to agree that I too have always sought after the ‘big and colorful’ when it comes to people and relationships. However, this trip to Ecuador has taught me to seek after the overlooked “little brown birds” at home or anywhere in the world. Here too are God’s children; his creation. They have feelings and they have needs. Sometimes their challenges far outweigh anything I can imagine having to deal with. It has been such an incredible adventure looking for them and helping to address their needs. There is nothing wrong with being big and colorful, but one should never forget how important and interesting the “LBJ’s” can be.
Focus of oil money should be on education, health than on a cheque – U.S. Ambassador @newsroomgy The discussion of what to do with the country’s oil revenues should be focused more on developing key social sectors and improving security rather than on a cash handout to citizens, U.S. Ambassador Perry Holloway Monday night suggested. “…I think the more important conversation should be about not giving every citizen a cheque, but giving every citizen a quality education, giving every citizen quality health care, a secure environment in which to live and work,” the US Ambassador told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the American Chambers of Commerce in Guyana (AmCham) at the Marriott Hotel, Kingston in Georgetown. “…I think if you do all of those things with the revenue that petroleum generates, everyone will make plenty of money and be very prosperous.” #oilmoney#oilboom#usambassador#newsroomgy#news#first#now#guyana#tops#guyanese#24 /7
