I’ve been getting quite a handful of clients who have recently emailed me about being discouraged about their progress. I 100% BLAME social media for this. PLEASE do not be fooled by all the insta-famous people who are on social media, only posting 24/7 about how lean they stay year round. You do not know if they are posting old pics, adobe shopping, lie about what they actually eat, and most importantly, you do not know what kind of drugs they put inside of their bodies to achieve that.
Do you think changes happen overnight or with just one prep? No, it’s years and years of hard work, dedication, and strict dieting. 2013 was the first year I ever prepped for a show at 154lbs. 2014-2017 I competed at right under 164-165lbs. I was on a structured diet offseason as well as on season for 4+ years. As a result, now that I don’t compete anymore, I’m able to be able to enjoy life, maintain, and splurge every now and then. In watching what I eat, I stabilize at around 180-183lbs now. But Rome was not built overnight! It takes time to build that foundation/lifestyle that many get discouraged about, and then either quit, or jump from coach to coach. Trust the process, and build that foundation, and most importantly, have fun!
Different type of recognition today. It’s always sexy to celebrate the PRs for deadlift, squat whatever. I do it all the time. A lot of tedious exercises and workouts for a good number of you today. Some of you worked on alignment, breathing, and bracing. Some had recovery days...there are so many pieces of the athleticism puzzle. Bringing the same focus and intensity to these types of sessions shows you are taking a big step forward. do you struggle to keep your shoulders packed when you lift?
if “yes” 👉🏼 do this exercise!! ☝🏼
if “wtf does pack your shoulders mean?” 👉🏼 before beginning almost all lifts you should roll your shoulders down and back so that your shoulder blades lie flat against your back, rather than “winging out” so to speak 🙃
to strengthen your retractor muscles:
1️⃣ wrap a fairly lightweight resistance band around both your forearms
2️⃣ pack your shoulders by rolling them down and back
3️⃣ focus on keeping your shoulders DOWN and shoulder blades FLAT against your back as you slowly walk your hands up then back down the wall
my left side☝🏼 is a good example of how your shoulder blades should look throughout the movement! 💫
my right side is an example of what your shoulder blade will look like if your retractor muscles aren’t engaging properly or fully - you can see it “winging outward” instead of staying flat 😔
i suggest doing 3 sets of 30sec-1min since you’re training these muscles for endurance rather than strength 🤓
i mean you don’t necessarily NEED your retractors to look SWOLE 👀 but you DO need them to maintain a nice, strong posture all day, every single day 🤷🏻♀️

Top 3 Individual Matchups:
•Corey Coleman vs. Denzel Ward
Coleman is expected to play tomorrow, but it is uncertain how long, or with which group. I’m expecting him to get some work with the 1’s, with the majority of his work being with the 2’s. The rookie Ward should see a similar workload, as he’ll likely stay on the field longer to get more reps. If Coleman catches a TD tomorrow, it’s a win for him. If he gains 50+ yards, it’s a win. Big chance for the former first rounder to prove himself tomorrow.
•Dion Dawkins vs. Myles Garrett
Both young players who have excelled at their positions thus far. Garrett is a freak of nature. This should be a great test for Dawkins to get some reps against an absolute beast of a human. Going a couple drives without allowing a sack, maybe a pressure here and there, would be huge.
•Tre White vs. Jarvis Landry
Great matchup here. Not sure how long they’ll be on the field, but these two matchup great together. Both super quick/agile, Landry a great route runner, Tre great at keeping up with quicker receivers, this should be a good one.
I ordinarily don’t care about winning preseason games, but losing to the Browns is never fun. Especially when you traded your former starting QB to them.
