Cycling the Huascarán National Park up to 16,000 feet elevation. What a beautiful country Peru is, with some of the sweetest people, most stunning landscapes, deeeelicious soup, and adorable animals. We really took our time pedaling up and over the Cordillera Blanca. It was a challenge getting acclimated but I am so proud of myself for having the strength and perseverance to see it through. Life is stripped down to the most basic elements when we’re out here on our bikes: drink water, stay warm, eat soup, pedal, eat more soup, pedal, make camp, and don’t freeze. We are nearing the Winter Solstice here in South America, after all... and cycling at altitude is serious business. Thankfully @smartwool and @biolite have us covered – we were cozy and well fed. Today we took a glorious 2 hour descent out of the mountains – our reward for the last 5 days of nothing but a whole lot of up up uphill. WiFi and hot showers were in order. Out here living our best lives... and it’s only the first week.
Had an absolute blast this weekend with the boys. My friend @kyle_leino is getting married this fall so @foote_iv, @bdufour5, @znelson11, @stanny_actual, @maxbbragg, Ryan and myself took him up to Moosehead Lake to celebrate. Shenanigans ensued, golf balls were hit and a well needed weekend with some good friends was had. Can’t wait to get back together with the guys this fall, until then, stay sassy boys.
