Mt. Amuyao (2702 MASL) towering over the Batad Rice Terraces (1100 MASL) on a fine morning. If you look closely you can the see crazy steep and slippery stairs descending down from the viewpoint on the way to Tappia Falls. Have you hiked either or both of these? Tell me how it went! I dream of doing the Amuyao traverse but my bad fear of heights and poor descending skills keep me from going for it.
If you travel or love to travel, you will see the wisdom within yourself. It doesn’t matter how often you travel, it’s about what you learned from your journeys. IG photos won’t impress anyone unless you have the eyes and soul to see the world for what it is.
Sad? Scary? For some even disgusting?
This is the other side of Apo Island. Whoever saw my earlier stories already know that there is an epidemic amongst the local dogs and they are clearly suffering.
Seeing the poor dogs left me crying, we even returned to Dumaguete earlier and did not go for the afternoon snorkel. —————————————————
As soon as we got back, we went to a vet clinic nearby to get medicine, recommendations etc.
It was difficult to decide on the diagnosis from pictures/videos, however we have been advised the dogs are suffering from either Demodicodis or Sarcoptic mange mites or allergy due to eating small crabs.
We estimated that the medicines to treat one dog costs USD 45. We bought enough to treat 2.5 dogs, unfortunately we aren’t able to provide for all, therefore we are arranging a donation box at the registration office on the island as well as an Instagram account @apoislanddogs. Please follow/share to show support and spread awareness. —————————————————
When I was doing my research on Apo Island, I could not see anyone mentioning the dogs and the bad condition they are in. People only talk about how great it is to swim with the turtles up close, which is why the place is so popular. However, if the guests are aware about the epidemic prior to coming to the island, they could arrange some medicine or donate upon entering the island.
We are operating with the help of a travel agency, who is based in Dumaguete and provides tours to Apo Island as well as other beautiful places nearby: ISLAND DIARIES Travel & Tours. —————————————————
For those who are in the area and visiting Apo Island, please consider donating by directly contacting ISLAND DIARIES Travel & Tours via cellphone number 0906-713-9620, or via email email@example.com or kindly visiting their office located at 96 V. Aldecoa Road, Daro, Dumaguete City.
Or you may also contact the local Baro Veterinary Clinic and Pet Supplies.

This is my front yard. I close the door behind me, admire my spacious veranda, and walk down two flights of stairs.
Then down a narrow street. Within two minutes I'm at the beach; my front yard.
A few more paces and the endless stretches of soft sand are before me.
I've found my spot.
I lay in the sun, soaking up the rays, counting my blessings, listening to my audiobook (today it's The War Of Art by Steven Pressfield... again) and still I think:
What is my ideal life?
I'm still shaping it...
Every day is a new opportunity to move my life in the direction of my conscious thoughts.
My goodness, I am so lucky to be here, in Station 3 of Boracay, where it's quiet, away from the main parts of town.
I love this. I love having the time to think, plan, and implement my life.
I love the scenery. I love the waters and the perfect sand. I love the people I've been meeting.
I love having the power to say "No" to people who want my time. Because they'll choose how I live my life for me, if I don't.
I love my family, in the US.
I love that in the US, it's Thanksgiving time, and here, on my beach, there's not an inkling of the Thanksgiving festivities. It doesn't feel like holidays here (even though Christmas trees and decorations prevail in many places).
I also love those things in my life that are yet to come. Just because they aren't here physically yet, doesn't mean I can't love 'em.
That's my favorite part of this daily creation game: making myself better so that I can have what I want in life.
I hope you're also shaping your ideal life, like clay, from your mind.
What do you think about, plan, listen to, everyday? Do you have adequate alone time to simply think?
Here's to you, because you're a badass who can have anything you want 🥂
I hope we meet someday on the beaches of the world 😃
See you there? 😉
