Fishing: the activity your kid keeps begging to do but then you take her to do it and realize she has no idea what fishing entails. Apparently Jordyn thought we would catch a fish in 0.5 seconds and every 5 seconds she kept asking "what's taking so long for us to catch a fish?" Whew chile! And look at Kennedy in the background, she said this is taking too long and took a nap 😂😂. While we didn't catch any fish, we still enjoyed our boat ride with @captainrandysdolphinshelltrips in @ftmyerssanibel. Have your kids begged to do something to turn around and not like it? #thetravelingchild
This came up in my two year memory on Facebook yesterday. The trip that started it all for me! 😲
I was brokenhearted, had heard about Thailand non-stop from the guy who broke my heart because he would not SHUT UP about how awesome Thailand was and how he wanted to go back there lol, but I didn't actively think about going there myself (at least not right away) 🙄 (Hindsight is 20/20, I realize now he was a total douche lol)
But then I found a deal for $350 round trip from:
LA -> Bangkok
Bangkok -> LA
LA -> Vancouver
NOT FUCKING KIDDING! 😳😍 So I booked it. No questions asked. Solo.
Best decision of my life.
I spent overall $600 buying my one-ways to LA and from Vancouver back to Denver. Best money I've ever spent. (You can find out how in my blog: https://bit.ly/2KTfrKJ)
At this point in my trip, I had already spent the time of my life in Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. I actually was going to skip Koh Samui entirely (since it was the largest of the islands and more family oriented), but I had gotten into a bike accident (I was passenger). I will go into more details at some point, but I had to get 22 stitches, 18 in my face, so no more swimming or too much sunshine :( and I had to go get my stitches cleaned every few days, so it disrupted my initial plan to fuck off to Bali instead lol but I ain't even mad. 🤷🏼♀️
This was a hostel I paid less than $15 a night for, where I just lounged in these cute cabanas, had Pina Coladas and whatever other cocktails for probably $3/4 each, and just enjoyed being lazy in this gorgeous place, where I felt like a queen lol. 👸🏻💁🏼♀️
So if you need me, I'll be at home working on reminscing/working to be back here.

We failed at this illusion picture 😔 but we did not fail at getting a cheap flight during a holiday weekend! How? I'm always talking about flight deals but I know everyone can't be flexible with their days off to align with when a flight deal is valid.
So how do you travel for the low when you have specific dates you have to travel or you have a specific destination you want to visit? This was the case for Jordyn and I's mother/daughter trip last year. I knew I wanted to take advantage of 4th of July and have a 4 day weekend with only having to take 1 day off work but I still didn't want to spend a lot of money. I didn't care where we went as long as it was affordable so I went straight to Skyscanner and easily found that Aruba would be the cheapest place for us to visit. Skyscanner allows you to find cheap flights two ways.
1. If you have specific dates but don't care about the destination you can search your home (and nearby) airports and select the destination as everywhere and enter your dates and it will tell you the cheapest places to fly to during those dates. 2. If you have a specific destination you want to visit but are flexible with dates you can search the cheapest month to travel to that destination and it will do all the work for you.
The best part? Skyscanner is FREE!! You can find them on the web but they also have a great app so click the link in my bio to download it. I'm wrapping up a new post on my favorite travel apps so tell me which one is your favorite and why? #thetravelingchild

A little selfish
I like my guys like I like my money, green 💚
A little jealous

A colorful mess, but I'm funny 🎭
