Last night I did my first MAF Session, a 5 mile treadmill run. Trying to stay under 139 HR I struggled at first to get up to 139 as I totally underestimated the pace but once I was there I only went over to 141 a few times and pulled it back quickly. Although mile 4 should be slower than mile 3 so maybe I didn’t pull it back quick enough at times 🤷🏼♀️ Average heart rate was 137. I’m guessing it’ll be a lot easier to maintain HR on the treadmill than outside.
I felt surprisingly good during and after and I actually enjoyed being on the treadmill when usually I hate it. It usually seems so slow compared to running outside. I didn’t need my inhaler straight after like normal and actually forgot to take it beforehand. And I had a bottle of water next to me which I normally guzzle if it’s there. I didn’t touch a drop until after. Still sweaty after but not as bad as normal and really quite pale 🤣 compared to usual.
The picture on the left was taken on Monday after 2 miles, there was a hill at the very start. I took it in my car and I was that sweaty the windows started to steam up 😳 seriously! The pic on the right was after my 5.2 mile MAF run on the treadmill. No incline on the treadmill which is normal for me but I usually am the colour of a beetroot, sweat ridiculous amounts and feel like I’m on fire after running inside but look at the difference. A hugeeeeee difference. Oh and I hardly felt my knee during my run and have felt no pain or aching at all after 🤩
I’ve only done one MAF Session but I’m a fan already. Very impressed.

Can’t believe I’ve gone and bloody done it! 💪🏻🌟🤘🏻⭐️Today marked my first run commute! All 7.5 miles of it! I never thought I’d do this as I don’t have much experience running with a rucksack on my back, but my new Gregory rucksack made the run all the more enjoyable. It’s so comfortable and fits really well on my back -no chafing or bouncing around. •••
I made sure to pack my rucksack 🎒 the night before as I didn’t want to be faffing about this morning. I set off at 07:25 and arrived at work around 08:40 - not too bad. Swipe left to see a post-run pic when I got to work, and a pic of my run 🏃🏻♀️ time. I wasn’t near as sweaty as I thought I would be 😵. The shower 🚿 at work was probably one of the best ones I’ve had for a long time - I feel like a new woman! 😂
I also thought I’d arrive at work knackered and sore, but it’s quite the opposite. I feel energised and ready to tackle the rest of my day! When you have these views on your run it makes it all the more worthwhile. Certainly beats standing on a packed commuter train. I still can’t quite believe I did it. So chuffed with myself right now 😊
Anybody else look like the living dead when they get up at 5.45am to go to the gym?? 🧟♀️
The toughest part about going to the gym this morning was actually getting out of bed. I don't really do early mornings and try and get up as late as I possibly can, so there's going to be a steep learning curve over the next couple of weeks 😣 .
On the plus side, I'd run a mile and swam for 25 minutes before 7.30am today, which is my usual time for getting up for work!! Feeling ready for the day now...I predict I crash at about 3pm 😴💤
Just what I needed, ten muddy miles along a soggy Thames path today. Quick little photo op at my favourite place @hamptoncourtpalace before heading home. Also spent the afternoon here yesterday at their amazing festive food fair.

Love this quote. I'm not the fastest or the strongest or the even much of a focused runner really, but I keep showing up.
Patience, persistence and perspiration fam. It's my favourite foolproof and feel-good recipe. 🙌🏼
I have never seen so my much red on a board before. Not have I ever had the airport be so empty. 90 percent of all things the closed and food is on a limited menu most places. So much fun. Remind me again WHY I’m here?? Oh yeah, my flight is still on for 6 pm and I have business to conduct on the other end. #thelandingsucked#bumpyride#ykr

Today I was meant to run the MK Winter half marathon but made the decision to pull out. I didn’t want to risk pushing myself and make my ITB worse. ♦️
So instead I decided to support others in the race and cheer them on. It was great to watch others and support them and I even caught a few people from the club and ran along side them to give support.
Although I was gutted to not race today I loved reading and hearing about everyone’s successes. That’s what the running community is all about. Holding each other up during the lows when they need it and sharing the successes.
It was such a beautiful day and volunteering is on the top of my list for next year. In total I ran 7 supportive glorious miles.
Looking back on a year full of running 👀 Here's my #top9 of 2018
Still injured atm but I'm hoping to start running in January. X-ray results were fine and I can finally move my arm without any pain, so I'm hoping another couple weeks of rest will do the trick 🤞 If not, I'll have to wait for my physio referral to come through and who knows when that'll be 😅
