Learning how to treat people is key to being an effective leader. Praise people in public and reprimand them in private. Too often I see people in positions of authority doing it the other way around.
Reprimanding people in public is an easy way to lose the faith of the people in your team and lose their respect either.
Praising people lets them know you care and makes them feel appreciated. This is a sure fire way to create loyalty within your team. It lets them know you care and lets them know you want to see them succeed.
