DID YOU KNOW: soy wax actually has a memory! It’s important for the 1st burn of your candle to be long enough to create a wax pool that extends all the way to the glass! 🔥 Then every burn thereafter, will follow that pattern and create an even burning candle with no wax left over on the sides of the jar! 🔥 #themoreyouknow#facts (📸: @bringinguptheburns)

Here's a quick tip when you're planning on selling your home >>> Light can play a big part in selling your home. You will want to maximize your available light that is coming in. It's the next best thing, after location, and it's something that nearly all buyers are looking for. Good light is essential, and you can help bring it in by taking down heavy drapes, cleaning windows thoroughly, changing out lampshades, and using higher-wattage light bulbs. If you have a lot of bushes and trees around your home, consider cutting them down or back to allow more light in. A bright, cheerful house is going to sell easier and quicker. #tiptuesday#sellertiptuesday#themoreyouknow#knowledgeispower#operationsellyourhome
Heart disease is currently the leading cause of death in the United States. The following text was taken from a published medical journal article titled "A Plant-Based Diet, Atherogenesis, and Coronary Artery Disease Prevention" from NCBI.
"The Lifestyle Heart Trial found that 82% of patients diagnosed with heart disease who followed this plant-based diet program had some level of regression of atherosclerosis and 91% had a reduction in the frequency of angina episodes, whereas 53% of the control group, fed the American Heart Association diet (containing moderate amounts of meat and other animal products), had progression of atherosclerosis. In addition, the study showed a reduction in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) (37.2%) that is similar to results achieved with lipid-lowering medications. Similarly, other researchers showed that compared with a control group, the plant-based diet group had a 73% decrease in coronary events and a 70% decrease in all-cause mortality. In 1998, a collaborative analysis using original data from 5 prospective studies was reviewed and showed that, compared with nonvegetarians, vegetarians had a 24% reduction in ischemic heart disease death rates."
Following a low fat, whole food, plant based diet and getting regular exercise is the most affected way to prevent and reverse heart disease. Even the diet recommended by the American Heart Association, (containing meat and other animal products in moderation) can't do that.
As a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist, I feel a strong responsibility to make sure that people know the truth about health and nutrition, while using science to back everything up. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions, because I'm ALWAYS here to help you guys.
P.S.- to all the men out there reading this that are afraid eating vegan isn't "manly".. consuming a plant based diet not only means more blood flow to your heart, but also more blood flow to other things (if you catch my drift). Esentially what I'm saying is- vegan men have lower rates of erectile dysfunction.
What’s your favorite coffee? Mine is a mocha with almond milk ☕️ This one was had on a lovely winter day (a few weeks ago) in Twizel, New Zealand (it’s winter there in case you didn’t know) I was mispronouncing this town as Twiz-el (like twizzlers) when it’s actually Twy-zel, like twilight... #themoreyouknow#newzeland#newzealandroadtrip#twizel#coffee#almondmocha
A NEW JOURNEY LIES AHEAD!! While it's true that regular activity is essential in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, research has shown that participating in sports may help ENHANCE the MIND alongside the BODY. To PLAY or NOT to play may be a question some people ask themselves when it comes to athletics and potentially playing a sport in college. Sports may NOT be everyone's cup of tea, but for those who choose to participate, many MEANINGFUL LIFE lessons can be LEARNED. Not only do athletics TEACH DEDICATION and a STRONG WORK ETHIC, but they also TEACH LEADERSHIP skills and HOW to THINK on the fly. Playing a sport requires an athlete to SACRIFICE his/her FREE time to PROMOTE team CAMARADERIE and to DEVELOP SELF-DISCIPLINE that will help them throughout their LIVES. With that being said my main man @matt__vogel has decided to forgo playing DIV I baseball to take his invaluable skills, taught through playing ⚾ to THE CITADEL, the MILITARY college of SC! The Citadel is ranked #1 Public College in the South by U.S. News & World Report. He is currently one of the few participants in the running for a scholarship through the ROTC leadership program. So proud of you buddy... Congratulations, Embrace the Journey and we all at @twsportsacademy are rootin' for ya! #MoreThanSports#TWmindset#ProofIsInOurWork#ourstandardIsThestandard#OurKids#WHG#military#thecitadel#SC#leadearsofthenewschool#TWmovement#CollegeBound#themoreyouknow#familyaboveall#JoinUs#jointhefamily
Thanks to the ladies of @thebabblingblondes for helping us to spread awareness this month! We are so thankful to everyone who has shared the signs and symptoms - it’s so important for women to know what to look out for, and to encourage them to advocate for their health!

We have always said we want to use this little platform to help give moms advice. So we were so excited when @stlovarian wanted us to help spread awareness for National Ovarian Cancer month.
There are symptoms for ovarian cancer, we encourage women to "Watch 4 the Signs" which are; bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, urinary urgency or frequency, and difficulty eating or feeling full quickly!
Each year about 22,240 women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer - 200 in the St. Louis area alone.
1 in 75 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their lifetime
| TOOLS OF THE TRADE |⠀
Did you know each of our medicines has its own form of Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)? In Chinese Medicine, it’s known as Gua Sha or Jade Rolling.⠀
Despite the many forms these tools have taken over the centuries, they still share some similarities in application. For example:⠀
The shiny metal tools (brands such as Graston, FAKTR, etc.) and porcelain Gua Sha spoon are best used to: ⠀
➕Break down facial scar tissue and “knots” ⠀
➕Restore ranges of motion in tight muscles ⠀
➕Promote circulation & muscle contraction ⠀
The Jade Roller and Gua Sha stone are applied in cosmetic treatments along the face and jawline to:⠀
➕Get that natural “glow” ✨⠀
➕Promote blood and lymphatic circulation ⠀
➕Tone facial muscles ⠀

I've talked with several friends in the last week suffering from fibromyalgia or watching lived ones suffer.
CBD could help. A 2011 study from Spain questioned fibromyalgia patients who took cannabis and those who did not and compared their quality of life factors and symptom relief: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3080871/#__ffn_sectitle . The fibromyalgia patients taking cannabis scored higher quality of life factors and reported relief from many of their symptoms.
If this resonates with you, reach out. I would love to help. #themoreyouknow#hempheals#cbdforpain
Debating buying this fall or waiting until spring? Check out the growth in median home values in the City of Chicago between the fall and spring markets the past two years. If you want to reap that growth in value vs. buying in at higher prices next spring, let’s start looking 👀 (Source: MRED) // #chicago#realestate#bairdwarner#househunting#facts#themoreyouknow
Part 2 of “The 5 MOST IMPORTANT items to keep an eye on” when buying a home
Plumbing issues: *Keep an eye out for active leaks. one of the most common areas are under the kitchen/bathroom sink.
*Make sure the washer machine has steel braided water supply lines. the rubber ones dry out and LOVE to break when you are on vacation.
*The hot water heater can leek. Most hot water heaters are 40-50 gallons of hot water. When they finally give up and fully break that amount of water can do a considerable amount of damage.
*Check to see that the toilet is securely tightened to the floor. A loose toilet will rock back and forth creating indents in the wax ring around the toilet. That will break the full seal around the toilet to sewer line and that waste water will leak into the space between the connection.
*Keep an eye out for discoloration in the walls, floors, ceilings, and in the garage check the roof sheathing. This is an indication of water damage or mold.
**Make sure to seek the advise of a professional home inspector and plumber if you have any additional questions on the current condition of the home you are interested in! .
Fun Refrigeration Fact: Refrigeration Pioneers were just trying to keep their beer cold. James Harrison, a Scottish-born journalist, invented the first functioning refrigerator in the 1850s using ether. According to science writer, Tom Jackson, he used it to chill beer. #themoreyouknow#facts
I frequently will recommend supplements to my clients. But I always recommend “real food” as our first line of treatment. Supplements should just SUPPLEMENT your existing diet and lifestyle. Our lifestyle along with health conditions can justify the need for supplements. If this is something you’d like to dive a little deeper in, consider becoming one of my clients. We have a few spots left in October. #integrativenutrition#functionalmedicine#functionalfoods#dietitian#integrativerdn#themoreyouknow
( Had an 18 hour shift so I couldn't post, currently on lunch so I figured I'd take the time) now featuring... Yesterday In HipHop History:
On September 24, 1991 Hip-Hop group "A Tribe Called Quest" released their 2nd album ( The Low End Theory) on Jive Records.
It is a departure from the group's debut album, "People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm" (1990), enveloping a minimalist sound that combines bass, drum breaks and jazz samples. Lyrically the album features social commentary, word play, humor and interplay between group members Q-Tip and Phife Dawg. It debuted at number 45 on Billboards 200.
In the years since its release, The Low End Theory has garnered recognition from music critics and writers as a milestone in alternative hip hop. The album is regarded as Phife Dawg's breakout and is credited for helping launch rapper Busta Rhymes's successful solo career. The album's influence on artists in hip hop, R&B and other genres has been attributed to the group's lyricism and Q-Tip's production, which bridged the gap between jazz and hip hop. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time, appearing on many best album lists by music critics and writers.
@homeschoolquotes posted a quote yesterday that touched a nerve for me so I commented on it. I wasn't the only person who disagreed with the #meme as @colmkal and @amykotas agreed with me & weighed in with replies to my comment. It was all deleted. Even my 2nd comment (asking if my original comment was deleted) was deleted. I have to assume that the OP thinks I'm taking issue with #homeschooling but I'm not. How you educate your children is your business. However, I am tired of people spreading the false narrative that ADD/ADHD is either a behavior problem or a parenting problem or an overly prescribed Rx problem. If you are uncomfortable medicating your child, then don't do it. But, you don't have to insinuate that medical intervention for ADHD is inherently wrong either. For many people, undiagnosed and/or unmedicated ADD/ADHD can be detrimental to their academic, social and professional lives. Ain't nobody got time for that!

Happy Sea Otter Awareness Week friends! So grateful to volunteer for an incredible organization like @themarinemammalcenter - which helps so many amazing animals, like our friends in these pics - Langley, Pip & Sprout, all recovering well at the center! Otters are a keystone species & vital for the health of our marine ecosystems - it’s important to help them overcome the threats of oil spills, fishing net entrapments, urban, industrial & agricultural runoff and more. Celebrate this week & learn more about these incredible animals! 💗💙💚
