Fun idea 💡! Every once in a while I let my student look through my big books. I give them a stack of post it notes and have them mark all the sight words they can find throughout the book. Last year my kids were OBSESSED with post it notes and this was one of their favorite activities. This was a super fun and engaging one!

As a self-contained teacher I really struggled with inclusive social skills groups and lunch bunches at the beginning of last year! As a result, I had created social skills strips that I could grab and pick a conversation starter without having to think about it. In it contains 5 SOCIAL SKILLS discussion starter packs that contain engaging ways to get kids talking and building relationships! I even got my students excited for social skills group by being able to pick the topic!
Now, almost all of my students are in lunch bunches, small group social skills, or in some form of social skills instruction. These are also so fun for general ed teachers to use for teacher lunch rewards or teacher time rewards! OR fill that extra five minutes before transitioning to lunch or recess with a quick Would You Rather group response!
Want to get ahead for next year and prevent having to prepare conversation topics that are engaging and fun for kids?

After completing a unit on addition and subtraction we want the children to continue to build their understanding of the connection between the two operations. We have planned an activity first week back using these start, change and result unknown cards. Can be used as a whole class activity or as a silent shuffle in small groups.
