I tried what is apparently called slip trailing. And I don’t think I’m so good at it 😂😂 so goopy! .
A long time ago I had a job at a paint your own pottery studio where I was supposed to do custom plates. Like people would put their baby’s footprint on it and I was supposed to write the name and birthday and maybe some flowers or something. Everything was wiggly and goopy. So here I am doing the same thing. Well anyway maybe it’s only noticeable to me but meh. And I practiced on paper before I did it but ...
A lot of my work never sees the light of day.
This is a draft of a concept i was working on a while back for a collaboration with a doll maker (initiated by me) for her to use on a dolls dress.
This one is not the one that made the cut but i actually have an attachment to it.
2019 will be the year to work on my conversion to surface design ability....the part i am hating atm!! .
Do you choose a word to guide your year? My word for 2018 was balance, and holy moly that word fell comically flat on it's face. 😂 2018 was anything but balanced. (I blogged about it if you wanna head over to the link in my profile...you’ll be reminded that you are not alone if you had a chaotic year.) I also shared my word for 2019...which is AND! More specifically, an ampersand because it is like the CUTEST symbol in the entire world. Right? 💛&&&💛 AND stands for embracing every single part of myself and of my life, and not worrying so much about making the wrong choices, saying the wrong thing, or looking or acting differently than others might expect from me. There are a lot of contradictions to being human, and I want to let all of them live together instead of trying so hard to keep them separate. Do you have a word for 2019? I'd love to hear about it!
Anybody who met Jepi would probably tell you he is the wildest human you could ever Imagine. I could actually write a book based on conversations we had. Every one on one talk or day spent with this guy was mind blowing and made one think. Wow, I haven’t lived!
This room is a part of his “hostel” in southern Panama. @abe_ramirez_ @kyle_mess and I worked there in exchange for a boat ride to Cartagena.
In the forty some days we spent there I don’t think a dull moment existed.
I painted a similar design To this in the bathroom. When Jepi saw it. His mind went wild. He came up with the idea of locking me in this room, filming the process of covering absolutely everything like this and I was only allowed to eat mushrooms. Better yet it was thru a hole in the wall like I was in prison. He fully thought this was a good idea.
I met so many people during my time working for him. I’m sure y’all have some stories to share.
Leave em in the comments below. * He once got a reef cut and didn’t go to a doctor. A while passed and he had a big hard ball growing on his shin. He cut into it and sand began to pour out. He is such a pirate he literally had coral growing on his bones! Find stories like this and many more reflections of my adventures in PICNICS IN PARADISE. What a wonderful world! Today we are sharing the tenth of our 12 Scarves for Christmas. From the skies of blue above this scarf gifts us all with a heavenly perspective. Along with inspiration drawn from a childhood fascination with astronomy, artist @tishyaoedit was moved by colors found in vintage celestial maps in setting the tone for an exquisite design. So pretty, the “Celestial Bodies” #scarf brings light to all who wear it 🌎💙
I realized I didn’t have any baby blankets in my online shops, so I now have a @threadless Artist Shop that sells my patterns on blankets! I’ll be adding more patterns soon! Link in bio @southerlydesign.
I am a fan of the interplay between the texture and colours, so I went for a three-colour composition with texture variations between the them. Here's the blue one, smooth and patchy with very few shades. Like an evening shadow on a snow.
I made a little @jmarieandsweetpea gift guide video that I will be sharing with you soon! For now, a little shopping hint for ya: Art prints are a thoughtful, simple and budget friendly gift to give so many on your Christmas list. Grab an inexpensive frame from @amazonhome and wallah! 🎄
One more from yesterday. This photo from north of St. Augustine, in the Jacksonville Beach area. Photo snagged off the www.911surfreport.com page and likely taken by either Eddie Pitts (@911surfreport) or Julz Arnold (@julzarnold) 📸. In any case - look at that wave!🏄🏽🏄♀️ Looks close to head high on the surfer who dropped in quite far back😱
Thank you 911 surf for the great photo! 🙏🙏🙏
