Our final day already 😲😲
Boat pose sit ups.
I'd say this is pretty self explanatory about what this pose helps strengthen. This was a struggle for me for a few reasons today. I've just been to the gym today, i was actually feeling this a lot in the thighs after my gym session and hence why the legs don't straighten properly. Extend your arms in front of you, and make sure they are not relaxed – keep them flexed and straight at the elbows.

Instructions:
From Yogi Squat, place your palms down on the mat, with your middle finger pointing forward. Keep your hips and feet close in a tight ball to help utilize your core to lift you up. Use the back of your arms as shelves for your knees, breathe in and lean forward, gazing at the top of the triangle between your two hands.

Transfer weight evenly through your hands, squeeze your elbows in alignment with your shoulders to lift higher into the pose. Spread the shoulder blades, knit the ribs together, pull the inner thighs toward each other, and straighten the arms while lifting the feet toward your pelvis. Breathe out, stabilizing the shoulder muscles, and hold for a few breaths.

For a soft landing, defy gravity and keep the core lifting even as you lower your feet back down to the ground. πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Day 11 is bakasana. I wanted to show the video as since my first attempt since surgery a few weeks ago I have found stability again. I need to have a really good warm up and stretch my hips before entering the pose but once I do it feels steady.

Begin in Downward Facing Dog Pose.
Lift your right leg high to Three Legged Dog, open the hip and bend the knee.
Continue to open the hip so you start to tip over. Your right toes come to the ground, right knee bent, and right arm reaches up and out, in-line with your body. The outer edge of the left foot stays on the ground.
Lengthen through your left leg and lift your hips up as you drop your head back. Breathe here for at least three deep breaths and then repeat on the other side.

From Tabletop Pose, step the right foot forward to the inside of the right hand. 
Tuck the right shoulder under the right leg (the shoulder blade sits under the hamstring) or over the tricep if hip flexibility is limited, then place the right hand back on the ground outside of the right foot.
Keep the hands shoulder width apart.
Bend the elbows (like chaturanga) and lift the right heel. 
Start leaning forward until your chin is just above the ground and scoop your right heel in toward the right glute. The further you lean, the lighter your left leg will feel.
Raise the left foot off the ground and squeeze the core in strongly as you breathe.
Hold for 3-4 breaths before losing back down to the ground and repeating on the opposite side.

Instructions:
πŸ”ΉStart in Downward facing dog, hands shoulder width apart. Step your left foot far forward, past the outside of your left arm, and place it on the floor well in front of your left hand.
πŸ”ΉFrom the extension, bend your knee and shift your shoulders directly over the heels of the hands. Keep the arms straight and the upper back rounding. Lightly place the bent knee above the left elbow. Be aware to keep the pelvis open. It's easy to place just the front of the kneecap on the arm, neutralizing the hips.
πŸ”ΉKeep the inner knee on the arm above the elbow and bend the elbows into a full Chaturanga--elbows above wrists, forearms hug in, shoulder heads lifted, and gaze slightly forward. Keep the ball of the back foot on the ground and stay calm.
πŸ”ΉKeep the gaze extending, dig the fingertips into the ground and begin to isometrically pull through the hands. As the heart extends forward, the rear leg will begin to lighten and lift. Extend the front leg straight and straighten the back leg with huge enthusiasm.

A little mini Sunday meal prep for the next few days. This week is a bit lighter on my schedule then it has been for the past three weeks so I’ll be able to eat at home a bit more. Justin has been leaving the house super early every morning for class so I made him breakfast burritos to grab, heat and go. I filled them with spinach, eggs, turkey bacon, red pepper and cheddar. I also made some turkey chilli this afternoon for lunch for the next two days. The last thing I made was apple crisp that had no flour, no sugar, no bad stuff. Instructions:
FromΒ Tadasana, bring your left knee toward your belly.
Reach your left arm inside the thigh, cross it over the front ankle, and hold the outside of your left foot. If your hamstrings are tight, hold a strap looped around the left sole.
Inhale and extend the left leg forward. Straighten the knee as much as possible. If you're steady, swing the leg out to the side. Breathe steadily; breathing takes concentration, but it helps you balance.πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Urdhva dhanurasana for day 5. I have lost a lot of flexibility in my upper back and shoulders. Most likely from being hunched over on crutches and looking down at my legs and feet when I walk. I'm feeling much more open in the hip flexors and not as restricted thought the hips, allowing my legs to support my backbend.

From Mountain pose, step the right foot a foot lengths forward and shift all of your weight onto this leg.
Inhale the arms over your head and interlace the fingers, pointing the index finger up.
As you exhale, lift the left leg up and out, hinging at the hips to lower the arms and torso down towards the floor.
Look down at the floor and stare at a point for balance. Reach out through the left toes and the crown and fingers making one straight line.
Breathe and hold for 2-6 breaths before repeating on the opposite side.
