Hurry, hurry, hurry
Walk, walk, walk
I hurriedly tried to find my way to the metro station. My commute back home that Friday evening was going to be long, and I didn’t want to make it longer. •
I looked at Google Maps to try to understand where the closest metro station was. “Ah- gotcha,” I thought to myself. I continued walking...past the construction site, past the trees, past the building...WOAH! I had to stop and walk back a few steps. “WHAT THE...”
There it was- in what seemed a little alley between the trees and a building, the US Capitol stood magnificent in contrast with the pink, orange, purple hues of the sky. “Are you for real?” I said out loud. •
My new Colombian friend and I had witnessed and relished the beautiful colorful sky that afternoon while we enjoyed the outdoor jazz concert by the navy yard. But *this*...this was something else 😍
“It’s amazing, isn’t it?” said a woman on the street. She had obviously heard my enthusiasm and amazement. “It’s unbelievable,” I replied. *Click* 📷 😉
Praise the Lord. He gives good gifts like this to His children. Cherry on the cake.
Midnight in America. Tangier Island. Maintaining a cultural heritage that began in colonial times (though native Americans first inhabited the Chesapeake Bay isle) - the people of Tangier Island are predominantly evangelical Christian, support Trump, disbelieve that climate change is man-made, inhabit a physically eroding island and diminished prospects for perpetuating their culture for more than a few generations. Current situation in America.
In other news it’s been reported that 80% of US families did not buy or read a book last year.
“...get your game on, Go Play [Ball]!” 💫
Another All-Star Game in the books! Almost didn’t happen after the torrential downpour we had earlier in the day, but the baseball Gods weren’t having it and granted us one of the best ASG’s in almost a decade! See ya in Cleveland!
