Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things: air, sleep, dreams, sea, the sky. All things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.
I had a taste of this brutality When i was travelling to Puri Last Weekend. I learnt what are the essentials of life, when you find yourself alone, late, lost in an unknown town without an internet connection or even a working phone. You depend on the sea to guide you home, You depend on yourself to trust your instincts and you learn to depend on the Kindness of Others.
This town is the quintessential picturesque of the peace you are looking for, a treat for the eyes. It offers clear skies and even clearer water. A beautiful sangam of the river joining a sea. This town Vibrates of spiritual energy probably because of the large amount of devotees that flock here every year.
There is also a hidden treasure within Puri that fills a backpackers soul. The remnants of Hippie Culture can be felt in the Long stretches of beach, the small intimate cafes and the open and accomodating culture that prevails through the town.
If you want to backpack to an off track place, with beaches, lakes and highest biodiversity in birds. Look no far, Puri is your place to be. Feel free to Dm any questions about the place.
