Bad Times at the El Royale ♤♡♧ Saw this last night and man did I absolutely love It! Goddard really channelled his inner Tarantino for this movie and crafted an extremely fun, intense movie filled with some extremely memorable performances and scenes! The set design of this movie was just fantastic! All of the characters were all well developed and all interesting in their own right. The diversity of the characters led to some really fun pairings and everyone played off of eachother very well. This movie did suffer from dragged out scenes with some moments of slow pacing. In order to get around this, the movie used a Chapter structure (similar to that of The Hateful 8's), where it broke up scenes by characters and would overlap and repeat scenes based on different point of views. The movie also gave background scenes for each of the characters that were all really interesting and effectively established who the characters are. Cynthia Erivo and Lewis Pullman really stood out to me here and really did a great job acting along side Jeff Bridges, Jon Hamm, and Chris Hemsworth. This movie felt alot alike The Hateful 8 but, in my opinion, took that idea and did it better. This movie was very well realized, expertly crafted, and just a ton of fun. I highly recommend checking this one out if you're a fan of Tarantino or if you're just looking for a very entertaining thriller to catch over the weekend. Thanks for reading!
