AHHH!!! I have been SO EXCITED to attend the soft opening of Spirited, a new kitchen and bar in downtown South Bend. @riot.chef is an amazing chef that I have admired through his food and Instagram for almost a year. Seriously... follow him on social media, and just in general. He’s a visionary in the local culinary scene. When he told me a little about his plans for Spirited, I waited in anticipation for its opening. Tonight, I got the chance to see this brain child of some wonderful local artists. From the drinks to the food, you can tell these people are truly invested in their craft. I had beetroot hummus that made me rethink my feelings on hummus (which used to be mostly 🤢). I could have had a plate of just that and been happy. So pretty much LIFE-CHANGING foods and flavors. There was a mushroom pâté and Brussel sprout and bacon crostini that were inventive and unique. He also did fun plays on classics, like avocado caprese bites and salmon cream cheese crostinis. And the cocktails? Well... you’re going to have to come see for yourself. The “It Tastes Like Purple?” will be my go-to, but the “Matcha Daiquiri” and “Salmon Shorts and Sperrys” were also super fun and tasty. Others around me were loving the “Not a Colada” with its tiki glass. Fun is an overall theme here. When this place opens, you’ll want to be one of the firsts to check it out.
